12:22 FOOTBALL: Chelsea's Fernando Torres and Juan Mata are named in the 21-man Spain squad ahead of the upcoming friendlies against Serbia and South Korea, the Spanish football federation announce. Thats from the BBC's sportsday rolling news thing. Where did you hear he hadn't been picked?
They're not giving great odds out from what I can see, Jon Walters is 150/1 think he should be maybe 15000/1. Walcott 66/1 was looking for 100/1 minimum, Shrek still quite juicy at 33/1 if he comes in all gung ho. Gomez 8/1 can't take those odds
I know John, whose to say he won't come back firing on all cylinders though and got a lot to prove from the last tournament. 33/1 about right.
Van Persies record in major international tournaments is putting me off backing him, only got 1 in the world cup and 2 in the last euros. Plus im not so sure holland will do that well, they have a very tough group.
I'm not expecting RVP to start. Going on the past they're likey to play 433 with Robben, Huntelaar and Kuyt upfront as Van Marwijk is a big fan of him.
I'd suggest Huntelaar is a much better bet, but top scorer at Euros and the World Cup is often a wild card. A couple of quid on multiple 50/1 shots is your best bet.
I think its a hard one. I fancy Fernado Llorente and Kerim Benzema at 16/1 and a outsider Antonia Cassano at 33/1.
Actually, having checked, it was their last game he was dropped for, rather than their next one... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2105883/Fernando-Torres-dropped-Spain-squad.html
Never gonna happen im afraid. He will score no more than 2 goals. I reckon the Russians might surprise us this year. Not sure how much he will play, but Kerzhakov at around 80/1 feels like pretty good value. Even though my knowledge about the Russian startling line is poor. But they have a perfect group, Poland, Greece, Czech Republic (Quarter final might be tricky though), but you never know.
Finally got round to putting my bets on for the Euros tonight. Did three top goalscorer bets with 1/4 the odds first four each-way, Benzema 16/1, Walcott 66/1 and Giroud at 50/1. I can't see France being as bad as they have been in recent tournaments so hopefully one of those lads will bag a few goals. If Walcott is used down the middle instead of the flanks he can easily bag a few goals, am hoping Hodgson has enough nous about him to use him in that role before Rooney turns up.
You might as well tear up the Walcott slip now, you don't want to be cluttering up the place with useless scraps of paper.
