Accrington v Southend We need Southend to do us Gills a few favours tonight and at least take a point from Accrington, who are one point behind us with this game in hand, our GD is identical. A Southend loss will see Accrington go 2 points above us in the table and see us just drop out of the play offs. Hereford v Wycombe It will be interesting tonight, to see how Wycombe overcome Hereford's style of play (time wasting!). If Wycombe win this one tonight, then they certainly will secure that 2nd spot from us by a clear 9 points. I just think that Hereford draw Saturday, massively dented any auto hopes we had, so the Accrington v Southend game is probably of more importance to us.
At least now that most teams have played the same number of games the task has become more clear. In theory any team in Gills position should be capable of winning the next 3 games - all against fairly lowly opposition.However the counter argument is that Lincoln and Morecambe will be playing without fear as their future in the division is more or less guaranteed, and that Barnet will be fighting for their lives. So, 3 games to put together a decent challenge for at least a play-off place, and then let's see where we are and re-assess the situation.
