Right - I was in a movie filmed at Alnwick castle (Ivanhoe)
I met James Mason, Michael Hordern, had a good chat with Sam Neill too.
We used to go to the pub called The Dirty Bottles at lunch times and the battle scenes in the afternoon shooting used to get a bit realistic with plenty of real punch ups and the director just couldnt control by shouting Cut !
One day the kings men had a fight with some of Robin Hoods men outside of Woolworths in Alnwick - there were about 30 blokes wearing tights and mediaval costumes snotting each other - fkin hilarious !

Bet that brought the place to life.

I've been in that pub before. Long time ago now though.

Sure did - we walked in carrying big broadswords and crossbows too - doubt they would allow that now !
Some of the main actors used to come as well - good times...

Think he would have been 100 on Friday if he'd been alive.

Another little piece of useless information.

Forgot to mention that I literally bumped into Patrick Stewart on Grey street whilst on my way to see him and Sir Ian Mckellan in Waiting For Godot. I'm a big Trekkie so just smiled and did the klingon greeting and said Hi! What a bellend I must have looked.

Great film, laden with stars. Probably one of the best casts ever. Another Clint Eastwood classic.

Befitting the title of the thread, 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' was quite a film too.

Very entertaining and a Box Office smash.

Clintwood just seemed to fit right into the role of Oddball, you'd think he was a real character, another sign of a great actor.

Odd choice with so many younger stars seemingly available.
