I'm walking along in a daze asking"How did Chelsea win the CL" Just how the hell did it happen? Fair play to them because we all take what we can get but I can only think that the fates were smiling on them and there was nothing mere mortals could do to stop the fates. I have no other explanation than that. Had they lost then they would have had serious problems for next season but surely surely this luck of theirs must run out.
Yes, it does. It's also one of the poorest excuses for producing such boring, negative football that i've yet heard. The truth is, that had either Barca or Bayern taken their chances, and had you not had one of the biggest runs of luck I've ever seen, then you're tactics would have got the hammering they so richly deserved. Do you seriously think that in a few years time anybody but your fans is going to remember that game, or that performance. If they do it will only be for it's tediousness.
Exactly, just that we did do it! So who the hell cares that we played defensively because we had an ageing squad that was depleted due to suspensions? We still performed Awesomely, I have never seen Ashley Cole perform better, or Petr Cech for that matter! Bottom line is Chelsea are European Champions......anything that anyone says about performances etc is just sour grapes! I dont blame you because we have all been guilty of it. But really, get a grip and look forward to next season, you will be challenging for a top 4 spot again. Newcastle will be out of the equation because they will lose half their squad to bigger clubs now. And chances are Arsenal will lose RVP, and unless Wenger spends for once, top 4 will be more difficult for them. We (Chelsea) will want to build on this win and will spend big probably so we can start challenging for the title again ( that is my hope anyway ). So a top 4 finish is completely realistic next year for Spurs unless their is a mass exodus of all your top players, and really, I can only see Modric leaving this year. Bale will stay.
Your squad was depleted after your stunning impersonation of Davy Crockett at The Alamo, against Barca. Where, if possible, your tactics were even more negative than last night!
But we lifted the biggest trophy in club football mate, nothing negative about that. Believe me mate, nothing can wipe the grin off my face today. My team are European Champions. You would be the same. Good luck for Spurs next season, shame we cant all be in the CL next year, but Spurs are a big club in England and will get their chance.
I probably would take it. But, I'd still have this serious doubt in the back of my mind about how it was achieved. One of the reasons I've followed Spurs all these years is that they always try to play good football.
Well thats kinda why i feel bad for Spurs, you did play some awesome football this year especially in the first half of the season, but for some reason when the whole Redknapp for England **** started it all went downhill for you. You kept up with the Manc clubs for longer than any other club and should really have had 3rd tied up weeks ago, but I am trying to see things from your perspective and if my club were denied a CL spot through no fault of their own id be pissed too. Its UEFA's silly rules. But thats football! IMO the CL winners should auto qualify, but it should be at the expense of the lowest seeded coefficient, rather than a club from the same league through no fault of their own. I thought the point of relaunching the European Cup as the Champions League and introducing "seeds" was as a money spinner to keep the more popular clubs in the competition for longer, and I am sure more people want to see Spurs in the CL than they do Transzponsor (sp?) or AZK Bilao (I think I just made that one up but you get my point).
The drama I was talking about vimhawk was during the 90 minutes, penalty shoot outs are drama of the worst kind, totally contrived. So what drama? We could see the game plans clearly no surprise, what we did not know was if Bayern would break it down. They could have done, they had the chances, but we have seen Spurs in a similar situation a number of times this season. They scored and suddenly Chelsea come to life and Drogba performs his magic. Now the pendulum swings Chelsea play some football. Stacks of drama you may not like the style but just like the Italians, when forced they can put it about. With a player like Drogba in the side there will always be drama including the theatrics.
One interesting comment about ourselves and bayern, is squad rotation as how true this is regarding bayern (im not sure) BUT the commentator last night stated their coach doesn't favour squad rotation and most of the players have played over 50 games this season. The bayern players did look rather shattered in general and they have gone close to winning the league, cup and champions league but missed out on all three. We went close to the fa cup, 3rd and missed out. Both our clubs favour regular players in all positions, over playing them and not giving them enough rest. So really if ever there was a case of talented teams needed squad rotation to achieve their goals then ourselves and bayern are good examples.
No team gets that amount of luck forever that's why Ouch. Other teams won't miss penalties and you won't be awarded so many offside goals and lucky deflections and shouldn't have been penalties is another reason. Sorry it took me so long to answer but she who must be obeyed is a bit fed up with football at the moment.
I have no further tolerance for any more Chelsea fans coming on to this board with their abusive low level crap. It will be deleted. If you want to post on here then learn some manners and behave like a guest or expect to be ejected.
