Martin O'Neill has made enquiries about Grant Holt, Norwich City have rejected any approach, (Everton & Aston Villa are also rumoured to be interested), Holt has since handed in a transfer request...

...he's better than Emile Heskey I suppose? <cool>

He's 31 now and has obviously missed the England 'boat' now - he's a decent target man and O'Neill has a love of that sort of player.

He's got 2 years left on his contract so I reckon around 3 to 6m should do it.

I would feel sorry for Holt if he went there.

He'd be asked to basically be a Shola type player.

Holt obviously wants more... I personally think he's a bit deluded. He's in a club that finished joint with 10th place on its first year up. He thinks he's better than that?

He's a good striker, but at any club higher than the top 9 he'd be cover, simple as. At Norwich he's at a club that's being run well, has potential and he's getting first team football. He should be grateful.

More than likely that he wants more money, cant imagine he gets paid alot at Norwich.

Considering he's at a club that were in league one two seasons ago, I'd say he's probably not on much more than 10k a week + bonuses.

And he wasn't even a starting player for Norwich - I think he would be a good short term signing for a team like Stoke who needs a goal in the last 20/30 minutes of a game

I thought Holt was their first choice striker?

He looks better than Morisson IMO.

He is their best striker but can't last full games - am pretty sure that second half of this season he came on as sub more often than not (I may be wrong)

That was the impression I was getting as well, Morison seems to start and play an hour or so and then Holt replaces him/joins him depending on the match scenario.

Decent player but whoever gets will end up paying over the odds. He is 31 and they'll expect 5m plus. No sell on value, just throwing dead money. I suppose it depends how desperate you are for a striker but for that sort of money you got Shane Long last season. He got something like 8 in 24, offers pace and is still improving. I'm sure Sunderland could pick up a much better option on the continent.
