    From www.nufcblog.com

It’s not a big surprise that Danny Guthrie will be leaving Newcastle this summer.

His four year deal at Newcastle runs out at the end of June and he will become a free agent.

Danny was signed by Newcastle in the summer of 2008 from Liverpool, when Kevin Keegan was manager.

But he’s had a lot of injuries on Tyneside, but showed what a very good player he is with some top performances last season, when he has deputized in central midfield for Newcastle.

Danny cost around £3M when we signed*him, but he should be able to get a good*deal*in the summer, and he’s been strongly linked with Aston Villa.

But since Alex McLeish was fired last Monday, he will need to wait to see who the new manager is, but a lot of good Premier League clubs will be taking a hard look at signing Danny up, he’s such a low risk as a free agent.

It’s hard to blame a guy who leave Newcastle because he wants first team football, and Danny made this clear on his Twitter account:

“Massive thank you to all toon fans its been great but I have to be playing first team football, the toon will always be in my heart.”

Alan Pardew has said that Danny is not happy when he’s not in the first team, and for that reason he should leave Newcastle.

The standards at Newcastle have risen a lot since Alan Pardew came in a very short eighteen months ago, otherwise maybe Danny could have played more games.

But he’s been a good player for Newcastle over the last four years and he’s a good lad.

For the record Danny played 104 times for Newcastle with 9 goals, and we thank him for his work on Tyneside, and wish him the very best in his future career on the football field.

Not happy to have lost him..hopefully we can find someone who can backup the creative midfield role behind Cabaye.

Shame to hear that, but I guess at this point in his career he wants to be playing regular football.

    Thanks Danny, all the best!

You know, I like him and all, great player, but his injuries are annoying and now we've finished where we have, I think we could sign a better player.

We have plenty of creativity if Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Marv now, and plenty defensive midfield quality in Tiote, Perch, Cabaye, Jonas ect.

I'd much rather we kept him, but I understand why he wants to leave. Good look Danny.

Sigurdsson would be my ideal signing for CM, even if Guthrie was still here.

Had a feeling it was fake seeing as he only had 4000 followers and only recently started posting as he was about to leave

I wonder how many fake accounts have been made up on Twitter, quite a few it would seem.

I'm not really that concerned to be losing Guthrie even though he was a useful squad player - it just concerns me that we need to replace him as we will have many more fixtures to fulfill next season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Pardew going after Nigel Reo-Coker - I think he was made captain under Pardew at West Ham.

Wish him all the best. Truth be told I think he is easily replaced and I've never rated him that highly before this season. He was just anonymous most of the time. But credit where its due he turned up this season looking leaner, and has rarely disappointed when he's played. I had wrote him off and its a shame when he finally shows some form he moves on. Would have been a useful option but you can understand it.

Just about the first player to leave in a long time that won't be booed on appearing against us in the future, good luck to the lad. He gave his all for our club!
