Sunderland keeper Craig Gordon has confirmed he is on the lookout for a new club, as his Sunderland career draws to a close.

The 29-year-old cost a record £9million when he was bought from Hearts but his five year deal has ended and, with Simon Mignolet and Keiren Westwood ahead of him in the pecking order at the club, Gordon has accepted that he will need to move on.
The Scotland international would like to stay in the Premier League and there was a link to Wigan, although Celtic looks to be his most likely option.
Gordon told the Sunderland Echo: "It's just a case now of me progressing my career somewhere else and finding the move that is right for me.
"I am just waiting to see what my options are and take it from there. It's a case of waiting to see over the summer."
He added: "There's nothing going on (with Celtic) at the moment. I'm out of contract now, so it's about seeing what offers come in and picking the best one from there really. I could stay in England or a move to Europe could appeal.
"I am open to any offer. I would love to stay in the English Premier League but if that happens or not, if it's the best deal for me, time will tell."

Not according to Craig Gordon himself on SSN. Yes no contract on the table and yes will probably mean moving on, but, door not shut he says and if offered I think he would still stay.

Well he never fulfilled his price tag if u ask me. Paid way over the odds for him and I'd guess he's on pretty decent wages so I can see why O'Neill won't renew with the keepers we have.

That said I don't think we saw the best of Gordon. When he had a run in the side last year, he was looking like a top keeper.

However his is very prone to injury and I doubt his wages can be justified.

He is probably worth a punt for another prem team but they would need good cover.

Well I am going to have to change it anyway, its too small, hence why the banner (to me) looks pixelated. it should be 1920 pixels, but we got told at the time to make them 1800 pixels so they got stretched by mick and i have never liked it just because of that.

The problem is I have never really seen a good banner with pictures of players lined up, the toon one is quite good, but other than that one, I think they are meh.

But whatever, I may have a go at a new one if i get time, or get some brainstorming ideas.

    One BIG meh!

His biggest contribution was getting the word Sunderland in one of the 'Top' categories for the pick of 20 years of football existing.

he'll stay fit for a few weeks then he'll be back to square one, shame as he's a very good goalkeeper when he's fit but never lived up to his performances for hearts and scotland imo, though he did show glimpses and he did make that wonder save versus bolton

    Gordon undecided on Sunderland future

The Scottish goalkeeper believes that there is a chance that he may remain with the Black Cats, but is willing to show patience after his contract expired at the end of the season.
Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon maintains that there is a possibility of him remaining with the club, despite his contract having expired at the end of the season.

Gordon signed from Scottish side Hearts in 2007 for £9 million, in what was a British record fee for a keeper at the time.
However, though the Edinburgh-born shot-stopper came highly recommended, he has failed to meet expectations as a result of consistent injuries.

“I’m out of contract now but there is nothing on the table as yet,” he told Sky Sports.

“It’s just a case of seeing what’s out there and making the right choice for me when the offers come up.”

"[Re-signing is] still a possibility. The manager says he likes me very much and would like to do something"

    - Craig Gordon

Despite being effectively released by Sunderland, Gordon is still very much open to the prospect of re-signing for the club.

"That's still a possibility. The manager has spoken to me, he says he likes me very much and would like to do something," he revealed.

“The door is still open there, although there is nothing on the table yet. At the moment it’s just waiting to see what comes [in] over the summer.”

The former Scotland international is confident that Martin O’Neill would like to retain him but is fully aware that he would face stiff competition to get back into the first team.

He continued: "I think they would ideally like to do something, but with the three goalkeepers the manager has at his disposal right now, something would need to change for me to get back in there.”

Its Craig Gordon talking him self - and I fully believe he will be no1 next season. MON clearly likes him, and by the sounds of it Gordon would stay with us.

I do believe it will be Westwood who leaves.
