I know its only a story in the mail, but it is we have to go on. It claims Fletcher has told his advisors he will not move to Wearside, not Sunderland but Wearside. now I would have thought a move from a relegated club to an established premier team and the chance to play for MON would be an excellent opportunity for anyone. Is the north east really that bad ?????

Some areas of the NE are perceived to be bad, the national media doesn't help. It steriotypes areas, like old pit villages (not that there are many now), and people think that the whole area is like that unfortunately.
We have many beautiful areas, and towns, it's just a shame that these aren't shown more on TV. The area has so much to offer, with short commuting times to almost anywhere else in the NE.

I don't believe this, why would you reject a move from a relegated team to a established premiership team.

Also yeah the N.E is perceived as being the pits. It doesn't help when you get programms like Geordie Shore - I live with two Swindon guys and they take the p*ss about the N.E.
When you look at the country side in the NE. You have Durham, Alnwick, Northumberland, Berwick, Keswick and Hamstley forest. People seem to forget about these places and look at the s**t holes in the NE.

Id say this story is Bollox. Stephane Sessesgnon moved from Paris to Sunderland. Fletcher is in Wolverhampton I can't imagine its the nicest place in the country.

I don't believe a lad in his position would close off any options to be honest. But from his point of view he is probably on a decent contract, Wolves will be pressing for promotion, he is happy/settled etc maybe with a young family to think of, so his first preference would not be to move. But I am sure that he will ask Mick Mac and Jody Craddock, if we made a serious approach for him, and they will make him aware of what a great place the North East is.

I used to live in a pit village too, but outsiders don't always appreciate "the village" or what "we" have. Wasn't trying to be disparaging

There's crack linking him with Fulham so he'd probably go there over us which is maddening. Purely to live in London, crap ground, no history and get about 12,000 at hone games. Same goes for QPR, players will go their ahead of us

I live in a pit village of sorts. My son lives in Sunderland on a tree lined main road. Some of the best coastline in the country is from Hartlepool up to Berwick

    Yakker!! :)

Remember it's the daily fail so I wouldn't take it as read - obviously he thinks he's worth a top 4 club - that's why his side were relagated! I love agents!

You tend to find that footballers do not live in the same city as their club or as far away from the club as possible.

Have read this morning that another player linked to us Kevin Davis has signed a new 12 month contract with Bolon, not one on my list but does have a few admires on here Eventhough he must be about 90 now.
