Am I the only one who thinks that Gael looks far more self assured in his performances for City? He seems to be tougher and more direct in his play...less of a pushover...or am I just being fooled by the new hair style? Or do you think the confidence stems from the players around him? In any case I'm happy for him....a nice guy.
He has probably had his best season in ages, but I still do not feel that he has ever reached the levels that I thought he would back in 2008. In fact he has still not matched that season. That could well be his peak in terms of his individual performances.
Better players around him defiantly. He is decent but not great. Wont hurt a team but wont make a team.
When we sold him, he'd had two terrible seasons for us. He was always being caught out of positon and he seemed calamitous at the back at times. But I agree he's had a great season for City. Was sad not to see him get back to his best at Arsenal, but wasn't sad to see him go at the time.
I though Clichy would be a liability for them, but fair play he has done alright. Seems like a case of him not trusting the palyers around him at Arsenal caused him to be hesitant. Same with NAsri I reckon now.
Agreed with this. Against Arsenal he was up to his old tricks, leaving huge swathes of space on the wing to cover the centre backs. Players like Yaya Toure, Barry, De Jong and even Silva cover him more than Song ever did.
Prefer Gibbs and did from the first moment I saw Gibbs - he is a proper baller. Think Santos offers more than Clichy too, better going forward, just as bad defensively
Its simple - Clichy is now playing for a club who actually know how to defend as a team. They clearly work on it. As I have said before, you could put the best full back in the world in a our team and they would look shaky and exposed. Until we change our system/tactical approach and focus more than we do on stopping the opposition, good defenders will continue to look average in our team.
