If AVB does get appointed I hope he can persuade Ramires to come to us. Anyone know any Porto players that he would look to sign?
Moutinho 100% right now, let's do it. periera possibly at RB, Hulk of course but not sure the price. There is a Uruguayan or Chilean can't remember who plays AM who has very high stock. The name escaped me but I want to say hernandez?

But... Roberto Martinez has insisted he is fully focused on Wigan's future, despite speculation linking him with a move elsewhere. After securing the Latics' eighth straight season in the Premier League, the Spaniard has called on fans to celebrate during the home game against Wolves on Sunday. And Martinez, who has been linked with Liverpool and West Brom, is also committed to ensuring the club continues to grow for the next decade. He said: "All I am concerned about is that the football club is still growing and continues to do so for the next 10 years. Disrespectful "I am the manager of an incredible football club and any talk of other clubs - especially when there is nothing on the table - is extremely disrespectful. "There has been talk in the press, but I have another three years on my contract and I don't see it as an issue at all. "If one day that's a decision that needs to be made, then I would look at it, but it's not the case at the moment." Celebrate Wigan boast the second lowest average attendance in the top flight, but Martinez wants fans to come in their droves to the DW Stadium on Sunday to celebrate the club's achievement. He wants this to include a minute's applause after eight minutes in recognition of the number of top-flight seasons the club have secured He continued: "We'll obviously be trying to win the football match, but it's just as important that there is a festive atmosphere at the DW Stadium. "We need to realise that eight seasons in the Premier League is an incredible achievement - and that goes for all the players and managers who have contributed to that. "I want the stadium to reflect the fact we have achieved something and it will be a proud day for us all."
Too old He is **** I'd have him before many that are talked about here, maybe Maureen is more of a less risky bet, as he is proven. I share the opinion, that I don't really have a favourite, and will give any man a chance, but certain choices from smaller UK clubs will get no honeymoon period, they would have to produce from the very first match. Talk is AVB is going to Roma, and I think he would be a big risk, and would need a full 5 years to produce a new team, and I can't see these owners giving anyone any time at all. Ever.
Apparently not AVB or Benitez Martinez not only person approached but looking favourite again. Multiple LFC sources through Empire & Liverpool Way.
sir_red hit the nail on the head with AVB, only roman would sack one of the games best young managers to keep a few 30+ players from having their noses put out of joint. He would be a decent choice, and id welcome rafa back with open arms, i do feel both rodgers and martinez are very good young managers, but it would be one hell of a gamble to take, but the owners must give whoever comes in 2 seasons minimum.
Mourinho - WTF does anyone really think he would come to Liverpool? Even if he desperately wanted to manage in England again he would not choose us, certainly not with the transfer budget we have. Guardiloa - Same as above and to be honest would he really be able to turn Liverpool around? He had everything in place when he took over at Barca as sell as being a legend there. I am sure he would love to work with Downing, Hendo and Adam. Why risk his reputation on us. AVB - If the rumour of Roma is true I think that is a nice fit for him. Needs to rebuild his reputation away from a top british job because he would be under twice the pressure of the Chelsea position. Will be a top manager and not given the backing at Chelsea he deserved; I think he thought he had it and thats why he was ruthless in the beginning. Abramovich should have sided with him not the old guard, the result they are in exactly the same position pre-AVB. Martinez - Great bloke, is a decent manager and plays a good style of football(same as Dalglish). Too early for me and should goto Villa as a stepping stone. Going from survival to the pressures of Liverpool is a huge step up. Lets not forget Whelan was backing him when they looked certain to go down. Rodgers - Good manager and had a great season at Swans. Like AVB will be a top manager but I think like Martinez is too early. Would prefer him to AVB or Martinez at the moment though. Rafa - The best option for me. Knows a lot of the players still and the backroom staff; with our proposed budget that should not be overlooked. I think he would be the best at finding a system that suits most of the better players. I think he would also be the best appointment to help transition Gerrard into a new role to get more years out of him. He would be under huge pressure yes but he can handle it better than the younger managers above I feel. Less of a risk as well for me; although all the younger guys touted could turn out to be gems and succeed, equally it could go tits up. Rafa would bring stability, nouse and knowledge of both the existing players, backroom staff and some of the youth players knocking on the door.
Like the transfer thread. Here we can talk about managers being linked. So far we have: Andre Villa-Boas Roberto Martinez Frank Rijkaard Juergen Klopp Didier Deschamps Brenden Rogers Alan Pardew Rafa Benitez What names do you and dont you like? None of the above except Rafa Try and get Ancellotti, Mourinho, or Capello first though. I hope the Americans are confiding in Steve Nicol in their search as he has been living over there for a while and obviously knows what LFC is about. Not in favour of Martinez, Rogers, etc - too inexperienced.
FSG should stick to baseball.....and the people of Boston think they should stick to soccer the team is doing so piss poor this year.
