A thought for today, I would love us to make a ‘marquee’ signing this summer. Now I am not talking Robin Van Persie or Sergio Aguerro here, I want to be relatively realistic, so looking at players currently playing in the championship or below, who would you like to see in a Gills shirt next season. Heres a couple of names to get things going. Darius Henderson, Lee Cook, Jimmy Bullard and Charlie Daniels.

Out of that list the only player I would touch with a bargepole is Charlie Daniels but do agree that a marquee signing would be very nice indeed! However I think we are more likely to go down the marquee manager path with someone like Paul Ince getting the job.

As much as I admire Jimmy Bullard and I think that he was a great player, he has one problem, Injury, and a lot of it, this is such a shame because if he had not got all the injuries he may have been a good player for England and that is great for someone who is from Kent.

He is out of contact at the moment and he said he is not re signing with them, however it is because he wants to play in the Premiership, not sure if he is good enough for that level but championship is ok for him.
He played for Chatham Town for about a year before being snapped up by Stevenage, I believe he was at Gillingham as a youth player but was turned away at the age of 14.

Clinton Morrision? Been released by wednesday and seems to be heading for league 2? Definitely a big enough name to be a marquee singing

Why do we need a marquee signing again? Take a leaf out of the likes of Stevenage's book, bringing through young and hungry players who can play a consistent number of games. Our `marquee` signings over the years have always seemed to have crashed and burned.

The last marquee signing we signed from Sheff Wednesday was David Graham, never showed the form that was meant to be a playoff drive in league 1 :(
