i know!! scary isn't it. he'd have to take one hell of a pay cut to come here, more than half his wages in fact! i suppose it would show commitment though <ok>

i still say he's a very good defender, its just he had an horrific season at wolves and problems off the field probably didn't help. get his head right and he's a defender who was on the verge of the england set up 18 months ago. still a long shot in my opinion but lambert has briefly managed him before at wycombe <ok>

Sounds like the whitbread situation is similar to the doc two years ago. Offered a contract with a take it or leave it and he's left it. Good players though.
As far as I'm concerned there is not space for Barnett on our books he's been awful this season.
Ayala, Bennett, Martin, and Ward or a replacement (Johnson would be good) is a good set of CBs our real defensive weakness is the full backs we need another right back and a left back to replace drury when he goes so we don't end up with lappin there.
Wouldn't mind a Ryan bertrand back at LB.

He hasn't got a job at another club guaranteed, he's the manager of Norwich so he's going to continue in that manner. <doh>

Like I said, there is no way there is no clause in his contract about a pay cut- that's pure press speculation. A lawyer would be in serious **** if they had let that happen. He'll be on much less- still more than our wage cap though

There was talk about Chris Gunter from Forest a while back.
He's mainly a RB but can dep at LB like Naughton did?

    Don't forget Tierney, Bath. <ok>

Also, confrontations like Johnsons and Hennesseys happen all the time, although not always as aggressive. I remember Ruddy had a little argument with I think Ward once.

I would like to sign Johnson as the more players we have with the same name the better!

Good a reason as any! I was more concerned with the turning up to training drunk rumours...

Swansea have denied bidding for Gunter according to the bbc. In any event, is Brendan Rodger's transfer policy just to wait to see whether Lambert's interested in a player and then try and sign him? We just appear to be always in competition with them! And Fulham. They can **** off!

I hadn't but he's been injured for a while and Adam hasn't been fit for a full season for years.
Given Russ is more of a CB now we have one out and out RB on our books, Francomb.

Johnson was a decent defender at Cardiff and Birmingham but it seems wolves was the wrong clubat the wrong time. Under the guidence of lambert i would imagine we would have a decent defender on our hands!

No complaints from me. Grateful for their services but I reckon we have better in the squad and will replace with better in the summer. Hopefully we will get another CB as either first choice or to back up Bennett/Ayala as I certainly wouldn't want to see Ward on the bench or, heaven forbid, playing in the first team next season as against the top players he looks cumbersome and appears to run through porridge when chasing the ball.

if there is any truth in the rumours about both johnson and davies, we could start next season with daniel ayala, ryan bennett, curtis davies, roger johnson and russell martin as our centre back options. that looks very, very strong indeed

Anyone know what the situation is like with Maynor Figueroa? Out of our price range?

Forgot to say that I think that R Martin will provide excellent cover for the inevitable Ayal injury. I have been hugely impressed with him at CH (although not at RB where he seems to be exposed for pace).

I like him, but I'm only basing that on the long range goal he scored a couple of seasons a go. Very quick and clever goal.

Don't think transfer fee would be that high, under 5 million but wages maybe the stumbling block as with many players.

I would like to see us test the water with a bid for Clyne from Palace. Transfer fee shouldn't be an issue, however lots of teams are rumoured to be interested so wages maybe high. Worth a shot on the off chance though. The other I would add is Mattock who was at Brighton this season. Looks useful although I would have to see more of him first. And Bridcutt as DM but I think that has been covered plenty of times.
