Ajax set the transfer fee for Vertonghen at 15 million euro's, or 13 million pounds. But since hes hot on the market i think his price tag will go up as Chelsea, Tottenham are set to make a bid in the coming weeks(rumour has it that is). Vertonghen has already been seen at White Hart Lane last week.

    So maybe bit too expensive?

    I'd be very happy with:

    Debuchy
    Douglas
    Diame/Nzonzi
    Hoilett
Amalfitano (looks as if that one could be sewn up)

    And one or two more.

Think Vertonghen and Giroud are out of our reach now, the former wanted by Spuds and Arsenal and the latter commanding a large fee.

There are not many things I'd like to see less than that lazy bastard in a Newcastle shirt! Scores goals but that's all he does. Very very lazy and not in keeping with our players work ethics at all.

    Right, putting my NUFC thinking cap on for a moment, i'll say you should target;

Debuchy (should be sorted out soon)
    Douglas
    A new midfielder too.

Diame or N'Zonzi perhaps. I quite like the look of Mark Davies too. Apparently we have signed Jacob Butterfield from Barnsley as well, dunno if anyone else has heard that?

Wouldn't be against it. I like the lad and like the idea of youth being given a chance. Between him, Perch and Raylor we'd have enough cover. its why the links with Debuchy surprise me. I still think Adil Rami might have been Cabayes friend that Pardew was talking about.

We should have another one ready next year according to my mates who watch youth teams and reserves. Young Remi Streete supposedly very impressive young centre back. They reckon he will defo make the step up.

Diame is ok, maybe as a backup for someone better. I hadn't heard the Butterfield rumours, i thought he was going to Reading, or something like that?

Without wishing to sound disrespectful, isn't Rami out of your price range? He only joined Valencia at the start of the season, he would cost a fortune to sign.

I heard a week or so ago that it was pretty much done deal, similar to the Amalfitano deal, and they would be announced together when the window officially reopens. The problem is it's hard to know who actually knows what they are talking about with transfers...could easily all be bollocks!

Wouldn't surprise me if Valencia needed the money. They seem to routinely go bust every other year.

To be honest I hadn't even looked at what he moved for, seems the fee was in the region of 6-8m euros so I'd say he's probably not the guy as we'd have to top it. Plus Valencia qualified for the CL. I'm not sure if he has been first choice but I know he was taking a hammering in March time. I think they had a poor run of form and the fans felt he was at the heart of it. I just know he was a big mucker of Cabayes at Lille and they are both internationals.

I just find Debuchy a bit strange given what he'd cost, and we don't really need a right back, even if Simpson went.
