Too much common sense in those comments. Forget getting a job with our national press.

France always look great on paper. They rarely turn up.

Hodgson should be judged on what he does post the Euro's. I think he's giving the old guard one last swansong and will concetrate on bringing through younger players for the World Cup qualifiers.

If we meet Germany at any point before the semi final we can kiss the competition goodbye.

    Germany would absolutely slaughter England.

I think at least Roy has in his favour the fact there seem to be very low expectations in the media and fans in general leading up to this tournament. This is unlike previous tournaments where the media have whipped everyone into a frenzy of unjustified optimism. We'll have to say whether this remains the case in the coming three weeks before the Euros start.

If all the players like the system Woy plays then we have a chance, if they all hit form and play well it could get exciting - if either of the aforementioned don't happen, then all the players will get a good long rest over the summer. <ok>

Hence my £20 was down over a year ago. I know they haven't exactly been in favour or form with their clubs at all times this year, but an attacking midfield trio of Ozil, Gotze, Muller is pretty exciting. Spain look paggered if Barcelona are anything to go by. Indeed one of the reasons I would have left Lampard/Terry at home is that I expect Chelsea players to be out on their feet. Ashley Cole will be alright because he is a freak of nature.

Coming from the English, that's a pretty rich statement.

I never said that we turn up, we're usually too tired to even think about turning up. I was commenting on France. France have been a very average side since the heady days of Vieiria, Henry, Petit etc. They have finished bottom of their group in 3 out 5 of the last major tournaments. They reached the QF in another and of course the final in 2006. That was purely down to the genius of Zidane (up to the final), and indeed they only got out of the group stage courtesy of a last group game win against Togo. They were pretty poor but Zidane/Vieiria were having one last swansong and great players often find a way.

They've turned up once in the last 5. Indeed they made heavy work of the qualification for this one. It went down to a last game against Bosnia and H. I watched it and Bosnia and H were much the better side, Dzecko should have had them dead and buried and in the play offs. But a late pen from Nasri spared their blushes. They only scored 15 goals in 10 games, and no individual scored more than 3.

So not really rich, just accurate.

    My last post was a typo I meant to say;

Despite having a speech impediment (and a HILAWIOUS one at that!!!!), Woy is ready to unlock the full potential of England's golden generation and give Engerland fans what they have long been waiting for, another trophy. We already have one, it was in 1966, (see this issue's 50-page pull out for more) so we're due one.

England have dominated the Champions League so it stands to reason we go into this tournament amongst the favourites. Woy (as he prefers to be called) has carefully spent his time in charge of England carefully putting together a team of winners, amongst them Jordan Henderson, fresh from lifting the League Cup and gearing up for Liverpool's title push next season under Mourinho/Benitez/Cappello/Bruce. With this winning mentality it will be upto the smaller nations of France, Sweden and whoever that other one is to scrap it out for second.

Should Woy (ha!) fail to deliver the Euro title he is sure to come under media scrutiny (not us, we're not like the other papers) for being a complete ****, who despite having many, many days to prepare, has not turned around Englands fortunes. Perhaps then the fans will finally get the man they really want, Harry Redknapp. So get your hopes up England fans and put all your money on England toppling Germany (booooo! the war!!! Audi cars aren't British) in the final.

Be sure to keep up to date with my blog throughout the tournament where I will highlight just why Wayne Rooney is so brilliant/unreliable for England and you should love/hate him.

But it isn't accurate. Out of the last 7 major international tournaments, France have reached the final 3 times and won twice. I don't know of many national sides who would reject this if it was offered. Yes, they finished bottom of the respective group in 2002, 2008 and 2010 but frankly, I would accept that knowing that the other 50% of the time we'd get to the final. The other year (2004), they won their group (which also contained us) and got knocked out to the eventual winners Greece in the quarters. Whilst they've had a few dodgy tournaments in recent year, to say they "rarely turn up" is not just in-accurate but total and utter bollocks.

    Our group final standings...

    1. France 9 Pts
    2. Ukraine 4 Pts
    3. England 4 Pts
    4 Sweden 0 Pts

MARK MY WORDS! Ukraine will qualify with a better goal difference as they are capable of beating Sweden properly whereas our strikeforce of Carroll and Defoe with downing providing the final ball wont be able to cope...

We'll agree to disagree. France were lucky enough to have a stupendous squad around 1998-2000. Unfortunately squads and quality of that nature do not just come along every 10 years. Since the majority of that retired they have struggled. If you think think finishing bottom of the group 3 times, qf once and a one final represents a team turning up regularly then you're quite frankly mad as a hatter!

As I said earlier, the modern french team rarely turn up. They did once in 2002 through the genius of their ageing golden generation. otherwise they've been poor. We can argue you all day, but results don't lie.

This year should be different with the French... they are rebuilding and using youth to move on from their shocking world cup... Id back them for at least the Semis...

    A starting line up of:

    -------------Lloris-------------
    Clichy--Mexes---Koscielny--Evra
    Nasri--------Cabaye-------M'Villa
    Ben arfa----Benzema------Ribery

Thats an awesome line up and they have game changing subs liek Giroud and Remy...

Under Crapello no chance, now on a scale of 1-10 a 3.
