i don't remember anyone saying he wouldn't do these things hon...what we all fear is that someone who has been bancrupt on more than one occasion has the wherewithall to run the club successfully, financially. So far, all he has done has not cost much...when the big money is needed, we will then be able to make judgements..and hopefully give him a cheer for ploughing more money into the club.
I mean in the sense that he has fulfilled over half of his promises so far. Now its just the SW corner, the East stand and the remaining bond repayments.
I'm not convinced. I sit in the middle of the Rookery towards the back and on some occasions I can barely understand what's being said..and that's by our announcer dude. I cannot ever understand what any of the guests say....they might as well just smile and wave.
See i sit 5 rows from the back of the VR end and can hear clearly and when i move to the rookery i can still hear it, but can hardly hear myself think.
It looks the same as the old one on the face/front of it. But i can confirm it is a different one, there is a new logo on the back and new wires and it looks completely different. For starters its clean!
Roger - Regarding Simpson & Cashcroft. Yes they may have put loans and money in, but they took an awful lot out in salaries, interest and fees. Just where did the Prem money all go?
But if you can hear the music and Shorty (announcer) then its not the PA thats at fault, its Shorty! He needs to work on his mic skills
??? A club ahead of its time cutting its cloth. A club that used to sit in the fourth tier of English footbal for 5 decades, a club that had a flirtation with the top flight on three ocasions now, a club I love, a club Bassini so far hasn't harmed and is delivering. Bassini deposited funds to take us through the payments to date so he's got working capital in the club and retains a positive balance. Our model pre Bassini was to sell players to balance books, GT accepts this as does SD, I really don't understand the negativity here.
Aberdeen - add to that that Baz goes home and away and was standing on the terrace at Posh last month. At every home game he goes into the Legands lounge and takes the time to speak to the legend that is Don (sticks)...I don't see the need, although seeing who wrote it....
Well said Dan, I also am happy at what Bassini did, and think he is one of our best owners we've had for some time.
wear-yellow---I think you make my point really. If you compare Simpson at the same point in his tenure with Bas, then at at that point we would have said Simpson was a brilliant owner. It was later, when he started to gamble with the Club's money, not his own, when he fell out with fellow directors and the media, and when he started to look for a return on his investment by paying himself a huge Chairman's salary that our opinion of him changed. Even then we might have sung a different tune had his "punt on the Prem" succeeded. It will be how we view Bas in two years, not now, that is important. Most owners go through the same cycle as Prime Ministers--start out with high expectations, end up reviled. Bas may yet reverse that pattern. It remains to be seen. I don't think building a new stand is a priority for Bas, and I don't expect him to do it, though he will keep saying he aspires to do it. He does not have the personal resources, and the club cannot generate the resources to build it. If Bas keeps us out of administration , in this division and protects the Academy while paying off the bonds he will be a good owner. But he is quite likely to spring a surprise--pleasant or otherwise?--who knows.
Can't fill a 3 sided stadium-even when we played Spurs-how can building the East Stand be a priority? Bassini is doing a good job so far,but then again I'm a supporter,we're all fickle...ask me again next March
As long as we don't go into or near to admin, and the teams keep progressing, I'm happy with how the club is being run - anything else is just window-dressing (even a new stand) unless the work on it has already started or it's necessary for safety reasons.
Well, I think we need the new stand as hopefully it will optimise our corporate facilities, and not only on matchday. Hopefully it will aslo come with a much larger store, where we can offer a larger and mroe varied range of merchandise. Wouldn;t it be nice if they could produce season reviews for the 'glory' years, and maybe even one-off DVD's for those special matches! I must admit, I am still a defender of Simpson. He just got taken in by the smooth-talking Ashton. Simspon was just a fan who had been successful in business, and wanted to do right by the club. Then came along Ashton and his dilusions of grandeur. Only time will tell how Bas performs as our owner. His PR aside, he has done nothing really wrong, and is slowly doing what he has said he will do. Only time will tell if he keeps all of his promises, but I do think we are going in the right direction - it would be nice now if we could have some stability both on and off the field!
Psychology comes into it Aberdeen, can imagine a prospective new player also wanted by other clubs being shown round and being asked to not look in an easterly direction. Perhaps too the away club looks at the big gap and gets inspired. Maybe the moneys simply not there, but it cant give the impression of an ambitious club.Could be part of the reason the national media pay little attention to the club these days Wait til you find out Little Mr Bassinis not English W Yellow.
