Average and Grey - Average players, average manager and the front of a morally corrupt organisation that is the FA. They will fail miserably after being bigged up as favourites by the hacks and we will have another month of hand wringing and hair pulling that there must be a root & branch change at the FA - well until the Premshite starts and it will all be forgotten.

Nothing completely surprising, I say if Roy gets us past the groups, let him stay.

Agreed. I don't like the inclusion of Terry though. Nothing to do with the trial, I just think that he hasn't had the best of seasons. Who else is there though?

Wouldn't it be funny if Roy Hodgson, for all his detractors, actually got further than all the high profile managers we have had since Alf Ramsey.

No the video does not show that, it shows that he is calling Anton and trying to get his attention and then he shoots with the insult. If he were to say "i did not call you" they surely he would say "hey Anton, I did not call you a ****ing black ****"?? At this point in time he can be seen calling Anton Ferdinand a ****ing black ****, there are no ifs or buts. I could call you a twat now and then when you question me about that i could say i did not call you a twat. Thats two occasions, he may well have said he had not said that at a later time, but at the moment in the video he is clearly calling Ferdinand just that.

But again you dont hear what was said, or what was done beforehand, you see the fight, but nothing else. How do you know that the guy Deeney hits hadn't been provoking Deeney all night?? I also think the fact that John Terry wears an armband with respect on it and Chelsea (along with every other club) support the 'Kick Racism out of football' campaign are aggravating factors. How is this respectful?? How is it kicking racism out of football??

Can we stop this thread degenerating into ground covered before and return to the England question ,

For what its worth I agree with BB as a victim of ongoing racism overhere , sticks and stones etc, Granted it is ugly but having mindless thuggery in the streets is far worse!

To get back on track , I think its a shame Clevers didnt get a shout ,imo better than Carrick and most other creative mids we have

I honestly dont think we will get past the group stages.

What annoys me is for years and years the ' Golden Generation ' have let us down and proved to be not good enough, yet it seems no matter who the England manager is these names keep getting picked.

With regards to the 'golden generation', I think Hodgson said that he intended to pick many of the players who helped get England to the tournament - so no huge surprises on who was picked. I think after the tournament, he will get rid of many of the older players, and build for 2 years time (or I certainly hope so). Get the yonger players playing together, get some continuity, some understanding and most of all, passion for the shirt!

Expectation is very low from all corners, so hopefully we won't have the media frenzy after a defeat, or even an "England are going all the way" after one win! This is possibly what England needs, and hopefully the whole country unites and gets behind the team - although no doubt fans of the big 4/5/6 will worry more about their players getting injured than any success in the tournament!

    Come on England!!

Fine by me - JT has been selected and there's nowt anyone arguing can do about it.;)

Have to admit I was surprised by Cleverly's omission too - at the very least I would have thought he'd be on the stand by list - rather than Henderson, whose inclusion is baffling IMO.

Even given that, I still think England will get past the group stages - but don't expect them to get any further as the quality simply isn't there.

I am concerned about the likes of Parker and Cahill going-they have been on the injured list(hamstring injuries) and have not been able to play for their own teams due to these,OK Cahill will play on Saturday because of JT's stupidity but would Chelsea of taken the risk if JT was available? I think not.. we can not be sure they could break down with these injuries again at the most inopportune moment-hasn't that happened a number of times in the past where we have taken vital players only to lose them due to recurrence of injuries?
I think Adam Johnson and Micah Richards would have both been selected if they had been playing regular first team football,do they need to go to other top clubs to get into international reckoning...but then again would they be willing to take drastic pay cuts?
    PS.I would have picked JT.

Its a shame the likes of Walker and Wilshere are injured as they were young and had some quality.

My worry isn't so much the defence (Rio is so injury prone Roy probably thought it was too much of a risk to take him..) but up front is a problem in that will we get enough goals baring in mind Rooney is out for 2 games?

The midfield could be exciting if on form with the pace outwide..but its all about confidence with the likes of Walcott and even Young.

No idea why Downing is in but probably due to lack of other options.

What about Daniel Sturridge who has been excellent for Chelsea this season (and excellent for Bolton as well). He is also a left footer too.

I think everything so far has been perfect.

We are all already predicting dismal failure, so anything more, and we succeed. No pressure on the players and Hodgson, who has been a miracle worker with under-dogs, gets to do what he does best. Manage a team who everyone predicts to fail.
