Very peaceful Spurs fan here. Now that Dalglish is out of the way I have a fancy that if you keep stable management you will be Merseyside's top club for a few years to come.

The club that's always been and always will be first on Merseyside is Everton. And if Liverpool's founders had've got their way, they'd have been Everton as well.

But looking to the future... As much as I'd like to believe that we could kick on from here and finish above our deluded neighbours for many seasons to come, I just can't see it happening. When you consider the relative starting points and that Dalglish spent more money in 12 months than Moyes has over 10 years, it's a testament to Moyes' oft-maligned managerial skills that he steered his squad to a finish 4 points ahead of Dalglish's (and that was while gifting Liverpool a 6-point head-start). But I reckon Liverpool underachieved in the league this season, and, given the gulf in resources between them and us, I'd be very surprised if they didn't finish above us next season (let's face it, they should be challenging for top 4 all things considered).

I'd rather Dalglish had stayed, he was driving them into a downwards spiral.

Ossiesta,I've noticed over the years that Everton under Moyes start badly and then improve. If you can break this trend I see no reason why after a good start you shouldn't maintain a challenge for the top.
Shogun,Liverpool have had too many managers in too short a space of time which is fatal. I don't think it matters who goes there the downward spiral will continue....along with Chelsea.

Everton <laugh> when is the last time they won a trophy? Everton are a two bob joke club with no money and no hope unless they get some major investment.

I really don't think we are in any kind of trouble and we will do better in the league next season, I'm sure of that. Not so sure it will be top 4 better though.

Everton have done well under Moyes but there doesn't seem to be any change in the financial circumstances, if there was and Moyes had money to spend then Everton could push further up the league.

The trend will probably break next season as the reason we start poorly is that we can't sore goals, so if Jelavic stays fit in the Euro's then we won't have that problem next year. Also signing Pienaar would help.

But I honestly don't care much for how Liverpool are doing, they had a **** season in the league we had an average one. We should have finished above them, it is no achievement.

Rubadub,Everton have kept stable management and your being a Pool supporter will be biased but for me Everton are a team which could easily go places with the right investment. I think Liverpool could be in serious trouble next season so don't crow too quickly. Everton finished well which usually means a good start to the next season.
I'm sorry that you're so gloomy Shogun,I thought you'd be happy to finish above the Reds.

It doesn't mean anything though. It's just makes people think we have small club mentality. It felt more like a relief to finish above them rather than a triumph.

Moyes is a prime example of how strategy, nous in youth development, astute sales and bargain buys are more important than investment alone.

If your gonna kiss Everton's arse TMT fine, but use a bit of guile instead of acting like Everton finishing higher than us in the league is not as rare as rocking horse ****e.

    PS,well done blues.<ok>

I know I was half joking, there is no denying they have done very well with limited resourses.

Let us have a little quiz.

What was the first English team to give away plastic flags?
If you need a clue look at your avatar.

Liverpool FC have 'never' supplied plastic flags, sometimes there are parts of a massive mosaic left on seats in the Kop.
