Rumours keep saying he is having a medical on monday but they have been saying that for about a week now. I think he will come but we just have to wait. There wont be as much expectation on him because he come from non league while with Beckford coming for a big fee and from the Prem everyone expected alot of goals straight away.

i think Vardy will be a very good signing but only if Nigel signs other strikers to compliment what we have.

The goals per game ratio is completely wrong. If he did have that ratio of goals per game, he'll be up there with Messi. Apart from the mistake in the calculation, it was a good read, and a player I would love to see at the KP next season.

Ah yeah cheers Lanky, updated now.

I think him and Nugent up top will work a treat. With our midfield taking shape with Drinkwater and Marshall, we could have a young, hungry squad next campaign.

he is a gamble, anyone who says not is either foolish for blind optimised. Yes, he looks good, but he could also completely flop. I hope not that, seems a genuinely nice lad.

If NP wants him then I guess we´ll all just have to wait & see how he turns out.

Cast your minds back to the early 90´s, those that can, & remember where a certain Ian Wright came from & then ended up.

I doubt we will be paying 5 mil for him so he ain´t really going to be to much of a gamble. IF he flops then Cov can always buy him for the same price we paid.

Seems to know where the goal is though. As we say "IN NIGE WE TRUST"

Just moving my guide dog sidways whilst finishing my half full glass of Singha lager ... not a gamble for me at the money bing quoted ... we could always recoup a good portion selling him on if it doesn't work out - not too much difference between conference and L1 these days ... and he is proven at conf level.

1M isnt that big of a gamble for us, look how much trouble Sven had looking for a striker last season. 9M was offered for Maynard, 7M for Shane Long and 6.5M for Nikica Jelavic. Jelavic looks like he would of been worth it but the other 2 havent exactly set the world on fire this year. Maynard was brought by West Ham for around 1.5M and he has basically failed so far.

All of them was massive gambles for us. Paying 4M for Matt Mills wasnt seen as much of a gamble at the time. Yes he was over priced but not many thought his Leicester career would go the way it has.

So if Vardy doesnt work then its only 1M, better then paying 5M for someone who is going to be a gamble. But if he does get 15+ goals then he will be a bargain

I wouldn't say that about Long- he's perhaps not worth £7 million, but he's scored a fair few goals in the Premier League this year despite spending a lot of it injured!

Yes he has been decent but hasnt lived up to his price tag. 7M would of been a massive gamble for us.

1M isnt much money to us. He would be a massive gamble for 2/3 of the clubs in this league but he is a small gamble for us and as proven in the past there is some good players in non league. I think he is worth signing

Let's put some maths on it (I hate maths by the way but):

Upfront transfer fee - probably 1/3rd of what we paid for Beckford (could be less but with add-ons etc)
Wages - could be less tha a 10th of what we paid for Beckford
Solution - off loading Beckford helps a lot
Other positives - watch the TV footage available - he is quicker than Beckford, has better control and touch than Beckford and has a scoring record equal to Beckford
The gamble bit is whether he can step up/ handle himself in the Championship. He might not handle it OR ... he might be 'the next Ian Wright' ... I really want us to take the risk here ... sign you bugger!

IF he flops then Cov can always buy him for the same price we paid.

Not unless we get him for less than £10 & that's assuming both Cov's fans chip in.

Vardy has tweeted that he expects today to be 'a massive day'. Take of that what you will....

I would have thought with Blackpool's interest he'll be waiting to see the outcome of the playoff final before making a decision.

Possibly too much of a jump to go straight into the prem, if Pool go up, they won't take a chance on him there.

Perhaps he was expecting a call-up to the England squad?
