Believe our last accounts showed us in the red quite considerably, but that was almost all down to bonuses paid out for promotion. Will be in profilt next April I'm sure.
Everything that could possibly be payed was payed to make us at a loss of 8 million last accounting period , next one should be a whole lot better , as the one after that one too depending on spending of course . We really are in a dominant , financial state for the time . Hope we continue to hold the the line on spending unless it for training , academy & value buys in the transfer market .
well at least we were not the biggest losers from **** officiating this weekend. Howlers at Stoke got Bolton relegated :/
How did Liverpool earn more than Newcastle and everton? And also how is there such a small gap from us to Norwich? Does this also include money from the times we been on tv aswell or something?
Very true Vetch, and is the reason why many companies have gone bust during the recession. They just didn't have a reserve fund. They lived an spent as if the good time would last forever. and that's what many football clubs do. Once you get into debt it's extremely difficult to get back out. That's why I think Man Utd will one day sink. Their debts are sky high and not qualifying for Champions league one season could be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Yes, they'll be ok as long as times are good, but one bad patch and they will sink fast. In some ways it's lucky that the Swans nearly went out of business because most fans can now understand why we need to be careful with out money. There are so many clubs that invested to stay in the Premier League, but are now playing in the Championship. We need to spend the money wisely. Seems a lot of money but most of it is probably already gone.
One other point. Why are Swansea always consider to be such a poor club that's unable to compete with other Premier League clubs. Were do the others get their extra money from. From the figures above we're not much worse off than most clubs. I know the very top clubs have big fan bases, major sponsorship, Champions League football, etc, but the vast majority seem to be just like us. So we should be able to compete.
Other clubs can get more credit than us because we don't have many assets (most clubs own the stadium and training ground at least).
Gate receipts are revenue and ours is small by relative standards. Also, shirt sales and other stuff like that generates income. We'll never match the likes of the bigger clubs on shirt sales - but I bet we'll beat Cardiff in the Far East.
Bolton got relegated due to their results over the whole season, not one match. Every time gets bad decisions made against them. I'm sure Bolton got a few in their favor the rest of the season, so it all balances out. No point complaining about the referee if you get relegated. It's always the team's fault.
