The swans earned £45.9m this season. Each team receives £13.7m domestic TV money £18.7m overseas TV money £570k for each televised game £755k for each league position Manchester City £60.6m Manchester United £60.3m Tottenham £57.3m Arsenal £56.2m Chelsea £54.4m Liverpool £54.4m Newcastle £54.2m Everton £48.9m Fulham £47.4m West Brom £46.6m Swansea £45.9m Norwich £45.6m Sunderland £44.4m Stoke £43.6m QPR £43.3m Wigan £42.8m Aston Villa £42.1m Bolton £40.6m Blackburn £40.3m Wolves £39.1m http://www.football365.com/newcastle-united/7757109/Record-pay-out-for-champs-City
An amazing sum of money, plus of course proceeds of tickets sold, merchandise and sponsorship deals etc, so the actual sum will probably be another £10m-£12m on top of that. Nigh on £60m in total. And we can expect the same next season
Strange that BBC Wales<Cardiff> haven't got hold of this story. However they have heard that Brendan is in line for the Villa job!!!!!!
Re West Brom: Their first goal by Long on Sunday was well offside and should have been disallowed. Yet another **** up from officials this season and one that cost us £700,000!!!!
Without parting with silly money and appreciating it long term investment as well, the transfer market is a form of investment as well and w need to invest
With £55m-£60m coming into the club I would guess Brendan will have £10m-£15m(more if we sell anyone) this season to bring in extra players. I would put our wage bill at around £25m-£35m including bonuses too.
I think for this season and next season its going to be an 'expand the stadium and get the academy off the ground' variety
Not all I hope . The academy is front & center for me & even though MacDonalds have backed out of their opening around liberty , I hope the board wait one more season at least to make a decision on expansion
Agree with Cracker on that one. We know how every clubs fans are fickle and once we hit a bad patch it's unlikely we'll fill those extra 5000 seats. Let's lodge the plans with the council but not start the work until we know we're safe after next season. We've got to look after our future. Immediate stadium expansion reeks a bit of trying to make a fast buck and may not pay off whereas an academy will hold us in great stead for the future.
Rainy day money is a good idea in theory but by the time the Club pays out huge wages and invests in the 5-odd players that Brendan wants there's not much to play with. If we go down in the future there's always parachute payments. I don't want to think about that.
Hopefully, the money won't go to anyone's head. It can fritter away very quickly,if sufficient care, and restraint,is not exercised. We do NOT want to follow in the shoes of Cardiff City. A "what if "scenario needs to be considered, and provision made,if not for a very rainy day,at least to cover any April showers that may come along. And something ALWAYS comes along. Not to do so would,in my opinion,be madness, and irresponsible. The opportunity has arisen to secure the long term future of Swansea City F.C. at the highest level. Hopefully, our children, and their children, will be enjoying top class football in Swansea for aeons to come.
The sh#t is hitting the fans for a lot of clubs with new financial rules being set very soon . We could not have picked a better time to make the big time . A lot of clubs will have there hands tied soon not being able to spend beyond there means & we , as a club , have an opportunity in enshrine ourselves in this league . If not straight through , then as a return club , as long as we are ready & have a financial leg up in the future .
Top of the list for me is an Academy and training facilities on the same complex in Landore (if there's enough room!). I believe we need to start this project before the start of the season so it can be ready for the year after. This will be great for the local economy, hope we use as many local companies as possible, and will give an asset that will allow us to take loans out against in the future. Produce a couple of first teamers as well and your looking at the ultimate rainy day piggy bank. If we can keep Rodgers and get the right appointment to head up the academy we should be able to recruit the right kind of youngster who'll have a chance of being a decent professional. For this reason the Academy has to be designed carefully and have the stamp of quality. Sure Rodgers has ideas about a model we could follow (of the top of my head, Auxerre, Benfica, Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United? Must be a secret to how the Germans keep producing top footballers also). Get this right and we should never have to contemplate League 1 or 2 again. Must be top of the agenda.
The academy is likely be built in fairwood common together with the training facility. The landore site has been mothballed from what I can understand as there is a lack of space there.
Whats the story with the new reserves pitches etc thats meant to be built down Plasmarl. Walking pased the old pitches behind the Bowling centre on the way to the stadium, they seem to be working on something. New fencing has gone up, the grass is being maintained and rolled and they have cleared a couple of acres of land at the side of it. It looks as though we havnt given up on that plot just yet. Anyone know? Back onto the money, Im sure Huw and the Board will continue with their prudent and safe use of the money we receive, £45.9 million for a club oursize can secure us and help us grow the infrastructure of the club for seasons to come. Opening Landore train station would be beneficial, but I suppose thats out of SCFC hands.
I'd like to know are we in the black or the red and by how much, however, I must say I have complete faith in H the Board and Brendan, who have put us in this position ( not forgetting the players of course )
