Great post Rangercol. Much of my sentiments shared with you. The panic of holding out, while we parked the bus and looked to keep Citeh out (but believing it was only a matter of time - and wondering if we would hold out and be so proud of the team). Hearing Stoke had taken an early lead - chance to breath safely. Or so I thought.. Bolton equalise. The feeling that the way our season has gone they were sure to score agan. And they did! My heart just sank as Citeh took the lead as well. I was feeling, just as the season had seemed to conspire against us, we were about to be lose out again. Then it all went completely NUTS!! An amazingly well taken equaliser from Cisse (I so knew he would be good for us). The waves of attacks on our goal again. Barton goes of the scale and lets everyone down, himself, fans, team-mates, the club! Then Mackies goal had me jumping and shouting on the couch!! OMG!! Then Stoke equalise. Back to breathing easier again. Then believing that we just might hold out for the win. The sinking feeling of 5mins over. Then.... it all goes belly up. A goal. Then euphoria - Bolton have only drawn. Then disappointment - Citeh score an amazing winner. My euphoria is tinged with sadness (rather than disappointment) - we deserved to hold out after that spirited performance. Well... what a hell of an afternoon. Don't think there will ever be anything like that ever again. Phewwwwwwww!!!! We are Premier League. We are Premier League!! Onwards now... and upwards.Well done to the team, the fans and the whole club for getting through this season. We got what we deserved in the end - 37 points and safety.
Great post mate, but no surprise there. Since the âno points deductionâ announcement I have been an emotional wreck. Iâm not sure how much more of this I can take. The press keep going on about how hard the City fans have had it over the last x years, but I donât see that. Have they been through more than us? I donât think so. But my God, what a season weâve had. The Goons, no summer signings of note, Bolton at home, Fernandes, transfer deadline madness, Chelsea, Warnock out, Hughes in, winning a match in the F.A. Cup, more transfer deadline madness, the downward spiral, Liverpool, Chelsea, Cisse against Stoke and then City, just to mention a number of the peaks and troughs. Any chance of mid table obscurity next season? Which twat said that?
More lies. Never said such a thing. In fact it was you who wanted me to fu*k off and support someone else! (Otherwise a very good article Colly )
Got to love ya Swords!! Thanks for all the kind comments guys.....a lot of you have added stuff that I'd like to have said too. What a season.........going for a lie down till..................oh wait....The Euros!! The Olympics!! (Could be problems with Mrs Rangercol!!)
Great year (in the end). We got what we deserved in the end, no more no less. It's great craic being a QPR fan. Who wants mid table mediocrity anyway ........................oh wait, maybe just for a few years to give my poor heart a rest. Thanks for the reports during the year Col. Preety much agree with most of what you wrote this year. Enjoy the summer months.
Brilliant OP Col I can see you and your lads now running round like loonies, bit like my place but only 1 son. My daughter said after we calmed down "why are you getting so excited you don't even know them" I just can't get her involved. Totally agree as I kinda feel a bit flat now, I really have thought of nothing else this last 9 months, glad of the break and hoping for a bit of mid table mediocrity next season won't be long and with all the so called top teams players at the Euros we should be fresher and raring to go.
Thanks Col. I joined this forum yesterday to find some people to talk QPR with. I'm a bit isolated out here in the country - my wife and kids hate football and my emotions on Sunday were mocked. That post was perfect, man. It's not just me!!
Great post col, it pretty much echoes what it was like for me and my girls as well. Thank god it's all over.
Cracking post Col,our team played their hearts out with one notable exception. When Mackie scored my head almost exploded, sure it would have been fantastic to win and we probably deserved at least a point, but the only important thing was staying in this league and we achieved that. Finally i didn't want Utd to win the league,so once i heard we were safe i wasn't too upset that City scored their winner. At the end of the day this game will be remembered when were all long gone to the great big Hoop party in the sky,and we were part of it!Bring on next season,i have just over 2 months to regrow my fingertips.
Welcome, which bit our the country are you in then. I'm based in swindon and I'm sure I just saw Luis Figo coming out of a kebab shop. Does funny things to you being a lonely R.
Sure does. Like making you choose a moniker like 'Bush Rhino!' (I take it all the tough hide jokes were done long ago. I'm from the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Lots of Pompey 'fans' here who loved to talk football and take the mick when they were premier league and we were down in the depths. Now it's all reversed and... yep "we don't talk football." Fair weathers!
I use to cover the whole of ampsheer when I worked for Time Computers - stayed late one night at a pompey supporter/customers place to repair some IT equipment, when I finished he gave me a Tom Jones cd as a tip!!! I asked the local Engineer if this was normal behaviour round these parts? he said it was "Not Unusual" True story honest.
Good post and glad to be in the 1% Genius percentage ... May we never get normal or we would be known as Norwich City
