Shocking that Carroll is the first choice for a lot of people. Is England really that bad?

I think we need to accept that we are simply not as technically gifted as the likes of Spain, France and Germany etc... Don't get me wrong, I'm all for changing how we play and our players becoming as good as them but for the time being we need to accept our players limitations and play a more direct, high paced game. By the same token, I would dispense of the old guard such as Rio and Terry. Yes, they have got big international tournament experience but its all experience with failure. For the Euro's, I'd go with:

    ------------------Hart------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------
    Walker------Cahill--------Lescott--------Cole
    --------------------------------------------
    -----------Parker--------Gerrard------------
    Alex O-C-----------------------------Young
    ------------------Rooney------------------
    -------------------------------------------
    -----------------Carroll--------------------

I think most people just accept to make any sort of impression at the Euro's, we need to get the ball of the deck and play direct. Carroll is by far our best option for this tactic.

This team for me, but take out Carroll and play Rooney and Defoe up front. I'd take Carroll, but keep him as an impact substitute - a plan B.

    Hart

    Walker
    Cahill
Terry - Rio won't go with Terry in the squad
Cole - Best LB in the world, whoever picks Baines over him is making it personal.

    Gerrard
    Lampard
    Parker

    Young
Rooney - Carroll whilst Rooney is out
Ox - Welbeck whilst Rooney is out

Gerrard rather than Barry. Otherwise, pretty much agree.

Doesn't inspire confidence - - that's an upper mid tavle premiership team at best.

    Hart
    Walker Richards Cahill Cole
    Lennon Scholes Parker Young
    Gerrard
    Defoe
    (Rooney when back for Defoe)
    (Jones if Scholes wont go)

I would use Ox-Ch, Walcott, Johnson, Carroll, as impact subs in each game.

No, Carroll really is that good.

He's 23 years young and playing at the top level... he's getting better and is now approaching the form he showed playing for Newcastle United. <ok>

So the england team is out. Anyone surprised there's not more liverpool in our national side? After all they've had a cracking season, how isn't Hendo in the team? Well thankfully, Johnson, Gerrard, Downing and Carroll will probably all start. Phew. Not like Lescott Jagielka and Baines are the best 3 defenders in the country, who by the way, played with each other in a very successful everton backfour. By the way how many games has James Milner played this year? 5?
