Good news, I expect he will just get better and better, and seems like a genuine nice bloke, wanting to do well for the club. Let the good times roll...

Leave it. Can we please stop treating every CB post as a wum. Let the man have his say and then cast judgement. Thanks in advance.

Would be surprised and very disappointed if this does not happen. Good player with the right attitude.

Hope he does sign but my third team contact at Luton Town says the club will be in no rush and not to expect any deal done this week as stated by some but a deal to be done by the beginning of next season!.

Sort of understand your sentiment 999's but feel he has brought it on himself. If you look at the detail of this and think logically. CB has been posting all evening and then at 1137 posts this. Do you really think the club suddenly decided this late in the evening? Or a first team contact has suddenly rung him? We got him on loan with option to buy if we stay up and he said he's desperate to stay and will do. Basically CB is trying to state the obvious to inflate his own ego. I wish he'd just join in like anyone else express opinion and have some normal banter.

I know I will take flack for this, but I really think we should look at all other options at LB before signing him. He is a better defender than Traore but nowhere near as mobile as him. The perfect LB would have the pace of Traore and the defending ability of Taiwo. Think Taiwo has pace but can be slow to turn. A bit like Onouha. I really don't think that Taiwo or Onouha are best suited to full back. I would play Onouha CB and see whats available at LB before buying Taiwo.
Diakite is a different story, he needs to be signed now. Very very few box to box midfielders with his engine. Just my thoughts.

Sound argument but then I keep remembering his celebration at the end of the stoke game!!! Surely worth an extra yard of pace!! ;-)

Taiwo was certainly at fault for City's first goal as he got the wrong side of Zeppellinetta.
I do have some misgivings about him as I agree that he can be a little ponderous, although he is quick once into his stride. A little like Jamie though, I can't help but love the guy!! I also agree with nuts about Onouha. He looks a very good defender, but not good enough on the ball to play full back. A new right back would allow him to play CB.

Seriously, i would like to see a young CB, RB and LB bought.
The new CB would be behind Ferdy, Onouha and Hill, but should get 10-15 games next year beside one of the above. This would ensure we have at least one young CB at our club for years to come. Give Hill one more year as a squad player and then buy another young CB next summer to replace Hill. Long term planning.
The new LB could understudy Traore and Taiwo. If we keep Taiwo then maybe no need to buy a new LB. Traore is our cover. He is young, has pace and will improve.
The new RB should understudy Young and maybe replace him during the season if he shows enough talent. Maybe Young might be released and an experienced better RB also purchased.

The planning we do this summer is vital and we will reap the dividends for years to come. I really think that we only need 2-3 experienced players this summer. The rest must be younger players that we can develop and turn into true club legends. We have had so many players come and go in the last 10 years, we have had no stability both on and off the pitch. Everybody talks about how many owners and managers we have had in recent years, but let's not forget that we have hardly kept a single player for longer than 2-3 years. With stable owners and management now in place (hopefully), building for our future must start now. I really hope to see 3-4 of our players coming in this summer being under 23.

Plays with a smile which I really like in a player. Anyone got a stat on how many crosses he's cut out, must be loads. He also can really frustrate decent players on his day. A big happy wall at LB. Good enough for me.

Now for Luke Young. Good going forward but got caught out of position more times than I can remember. Anyone think sparky will keep him. Coss I dont.

So that no decent(defencive) RB at the club.

Does anyone remember why Danny Gabbidon got dropped, dont seem to remember him being that bad, or winning many just after he got dropped. Seems a genuine decent chap, the sort you want at your club. Hope he gets a good club if he goes.

Im glad someone else can see how bad "Ill stand 5 yards off them and let the cross go in" Young is. Virtually all the goals come from the RB position when he plays.

Taiwo for £3.5m is great value and he will only get better. New country, new league and I think hes gone from strength to strength after a dodgy 1st couple of games. A good crosser and a great FK taker.

I would start Traore ahead of Taiwo every time. The threat caused by his pacy runs down the flanks causes every team we play problem and is invaluable. I also think he's actually under rated in terms of his defensive abilities. Look at the impact he had in the City game. He came on as a sub and almost straight away makes the Mackie goal that put us into the lead. I think he's a top top player. <ok>
