Yes I do remember him. I remember him NOT getting pissed and attacking a member of the public..............from behind. I also remember him NOT kicking an opposition player after already having received a red card. I also remember him NOT trying to headbutt an opposition player after having received a red card. I also remember him being an outstanding international. Anything else I should remember? Oh yeah, I remember him kicking an oppostion player.......................ONCE!
Really? no headbutts? your kidding right. Not kicking someone from behind? really? Not kicking an opponent when he's on the floor already? really? Was defo a fantastic international player and (as far as i know) never assaulted the public... but, was a nasty individual on the pitch...try you tube-ing sheareres fouls or something like that... Have I said that I am putting Shearer on a pedestal?? DON'T presume to put words in my mouth. You are quite right, Shearer WAS a nasty individual ON THE PITCH. If you knew anything about football or being a winner, you would know that sometimes you have to be 'nasty'. The difference is, Barton is a nasty individual FULL STOP.
Despite his detractors, some of whom feature above, as a player Shearer had many admirers. Barton has very few. I thought Shearers' comment on Barton was fair and accurate. As I recall, it was something like: that's what you get with Joey, he isn't going to change. It was pretty inane, so much so that I've forgotten the exact words! After the sending off and into last evening, I said much worse myself.
I think the general consensus amongst QPR fans, across different boards and with very few dissenters, is that he should be shown the door. I totally agree about Ali & Samba - they are going to do some special things next season, but with dignity and maturity, and help repair the nasty reputation that Barton is bringing to the Club.

I dont understand why people are getting so sensitive about it. We are a football club and not a bloody kids club. Get off your high horse. All I care about is QPR and QPR fans. I couldnt give a monkkeys what anyone else thinks of us anyway. Stuff happens on the pitch. He reacted in the moment to being hit from behind. A lot of people would have done the same. Also remember Shearer punching Roy Keane off the ball so he can shut his borinng mouth.

I can't believe many of the postings on this thread. Joey Barton is a disgrace to QPR. He's supposed to be the captain, leading by example. I don't want my club dragged through the mud by a thug who doesn't deserve to wear the shirt, let alone the armband. The quicker he goes, the better. We are a football club, not a shopwindow for Joey Barton. Let's get real about yesterday - that was not heat of the moment, that was pure idiocracy. He let down the club, his fellow professionals and the fans. Just get him out, please.

He was a bloody good player for England. I don't think that should be forgotten Shefford. What has Joey ever done for England?
Sheff..always got loads of time and respect for people who back up thier opinions...you my mate are one of a few.... So we dont agree over a player that never has or never wil rep us....who cares...? hoping we go forward next season, and signijgs are goona shock us all i think !!
For what its worth he's my two penneth.. Shearer can be a T*T most pundits are but he's IMO one of the best of a bad bunch.. At least he could play, Prem's all time top scorer. I know Barton can actually play football and he does it very well but... If I was a QPR I would sack him, like NOW. He is doing your'e club no favours at all. That punch on Aguero was just too far OTT.

Hoopster Not too badly health wise, thanks for the concern It's partly why I don't travel too away games any longer, add to that we're usually S*** anyway what's the point. Well, I thought he was one of your'e best player's when you beat us at our place.. Maybe it's due to the fact many Stoke fans we're giving him the jeers.. must motivate the guy in some way? I heard, he also played well vs us a week or so back, might be wrong though. He was laughing at us during that home game and I don't remember him getting booked that day! I still think he was dropped on his head from a great height at birth though.
