Shame about Guthrie. I think by and large he did well this season when called upon. With all the matches we'll have if we get through to the group stages of the EL, I'd have thought he would have got a pretty decent look-in next season.

I expect Tiote to be the one. The rumour of the club turning down a 23m Man U for an unnamed player would not surprise me. I'd expect it to be Tiote or Benni if true. Guthrie is just one of those football situations where no one is to blame. He wants to play, he isn't good enough to play, he doesn't get the games and leaves. Just the way it goes. I'd have retained him despite not being his biggest fan before this year. Previously I have found him to be pretty average at best. But to be fair this year he looked to have got himself fitter and looked better when he played. Not the end of the world if he goes, easily replaceable.

My worry with Tiote is that being honest, when we've been in the big games this year he has been the one who has got us going when we've been below par. He has been the thing that has allowed us to compete with the best sides because of his desire. That could be tricky to replace.

Listening to Pardew on total sport, unless it's for a move to PSG or for CL I can't see him going. He made it clear that Ba isn't about the money and he wants him to stay and they will be looking to sort out a new contract for him. So really think the club will do all they can to hang on to him.

As for Benni going I think a few clubs would rather wait until he's had a full season playing in the EPL before moving for him. When he came to us he was supposed to be a bit injury prone and all though the leg break couldn't be helped he still spent along time out.

I'd be really disappointed to see Ba go. I have not forgotten how important those early season goals were. He then put the team first and slogged himself for the good of the team. The more characters and talent like that we have in the dressing room the better.
