Lets face it, we get the best out of our players in a 4-3-3, and we play the best football with this formation, and play the type of football that most teams struggle to cope with.

3 forwards, moving, rotating, and threatening the oppositions defense, with Cabaye behind them, supplying them and providing his own goal threat, and two DM's covering.

Unfortunately, this system works best with two wingers, playing along side a striker.

Ba has done very well at LW, but he's not going to be happy there long term and scoring next to no goals, and lets face it, 4-3-3 works far better with two natural wingers and a striker.

I know Cisse hasn't been here long, and I think Demba is the better all round player, but Cisse is definitely the better striker/poacher we need long term for our system.

Ba is the 2nd choice striker, and I can see him leaving.

For our 4-3-3 system to work to it's full potential, we need to play two wingers and a striker. Not a striker playing out of position on the LW.

I'd love it if Ba would agree to be a 2nd choice striker, but he's never going to be happy with that. He wants to be a first choice striker, or at least a striker that's guaranteed first team football every week, and I'm not sure he'll get that here.

At Newcastle, He'll have to serve as a makeshift LW in a 4-3-3 which he doesn't like, and I don't see us playing this 4-4-2 with Cisse and Ba for much longer because it's not effective against a good defence!

Our best play comes from 4-3-3, and our plan B is 4-4-2 and long balls, but neither plan really suits Demba Ba (Shola and Cisse would probably be the smartest choice).

And personally, I'd be all for dropping Demba if it meant we'd get a quality LW, and play the new LW and HBA on the wings, with Cisse in the middle. I'd love for Demba to be cover for Cisse, but Demba obviously wont be happy with that.

We need to make plans for a new 2nd choice striker.

I'm not just talking a half decent striker, I'm talking about a striker with good quality, that will accept being 2nd choice but knows he'll get a lot of games due to rotation with our Europa League campaign.

Demba would be brilliant in the squad. Him and Cisse rotating. Our formation rotating.

But I personally don't think Ba would be happy being out of the starting 11 for long.

I think there's a good chance he'll sign a new contract and stay, but i think Demba craves the first choice striker role that he had at Hoffenheim, West Ham and at Newcastle for half a season.

Do we need to make plans for a replacement 2nd striker?

We certainly can't rely on Shola as 2nd choice striker.

Just for a P.S. I'm not saying it's a certainty that Demba is leaving, but there's a very good chance he'll not be happy with his potential new role.

Defoe is a good player, but Nah. Too old. We'd never take him, especially since he'd be after big wages.

Shame, could do with clearing out the locker room, even though that'd leave us with Saha when Ade goes. Suggested this on another feed, Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre who have been relegated from Ligue 1. He's 19, and a France U-21

Get in contact with Ahnzi. They take players like Defoe and will offer him the wages.

    We'd never sign Defoe mate.

I cant see us ever signing anyone over the age of 25 under Ashley.

    Here's a shortlist:

    Bas Dost
    Luuk de Jong
    Kolbeinn Sigthorsson
    Paul Taylor
    Cheik Diabate
    *insert other Carr gems here*

Also, Victor Moses and/or Hoilett for winger competition/rotation

I think we will be signing a striker whether ba leaves or not. If best leaves and lovernkrands is released, we are left with shola as our only back up. I'll exclude ranger because he is a waste is space.
I'm sure dost has just signed with a German club. Wolfsburg I think.

I think in terms of making plans, Carr is ahead of the game as he has already said that for every first team player there is a target in that position.
If Ba did go... expect a player incoming before he is released.

I'd like someone like Jordan Rhodes who we can develop and won't expect to play every week.
