Doubt it, it has to be Kimi so then we've got 6 winners from 6 constructors winning the first 6 races!

Although he did also go well there (Monaco) last season when the car was a dog.

What was the point of everyone saving all their soft tyres on Saturday if no-one ended up using them on Sunday? All that does is ruin a great top 10 shootout.

It meant they could start the race on a new set.

Not the ones in Q3 like Vettel and Schumacher who were deliberately saving rubber.

Possibly. How often do safety cars occur in Barcelona?

Who are you talking about? Everyone ran options in every session apart from Schumacher and Vettel who didn't set a lap in Q3, and Kobayashi who broke down in Q2.

Yes, but some deliberately ran older options later like Vettel to save soft tyres (which didn't end up getting used), whereas someone like Webber had heaps of fresh options. The first stint of the race aside, I didn't see anyone except Raikkonen at the end go out on soft rubber. My point is, if people are going out of their way in qualifying to save the faster rubber, they should actually use it.

Didn't Webber and Vettel use the same amount of tyres? They both used a new set in Q1 and Q2, Webber didn't run in Q3 and Vettel only did some sectors, effectively giving them both one set of new options and the choice of starting the race on either primes or options. Schumacher was the same as Vettel except he used a set of primes at the start of Q1.

I read something interesting on clip the apex earlier,

as Perez was disqualified from the Australian grand prix 2011, then the longest classified stint that we have ever seen on the modern Pirelli tyres was Hamiltons 31 lap stint yesterday which was 89.6 miles.

They will save tyres every race weekend as much as possible. Track temperature seems to be playing a major role and you don't want to arrive on Sunday and find the track temperature is more conducive to the tyres you've just used up. I'm surprised they still havn't managed to get on top of the tyres tbh, maybe they never will.

And aren't this years Hard Tyres last years Mediums? If so, makes Lewis 31 lap stint even more impressive.
If/But/Maybe/Should/Could, had Hamilton got a reasonable penalty and be demoted to 6th or at worst 10th, running a 3 stopper I think at the worst he'd have been on the podium.

Hamilton wouldnt of done the long runs if he was at the front. Mclaren would of followed suit with the others. It was a clever mclaren strategy to get him into the points. He could of got higher but the downfall was his inability to overtake because of the tyres and low gear ratio.

Has anybody noticed the mclaren is not very good when in traffic? Thats why pole is a must for them.

Inability to overtake!? Are you serious!? That he got as high as he did was down to the overtakes he did in the race. Did seem a bit low on straightline speed compared to Massa's Ferrari but that was isolated.

The field is so competitve nowadays its not easy to just come up from the back like you could a few years ago. The top 10 is ferociously tight to get into if you start outside it.

Sorry I didnt mean that as a dig. I meant Just as he caught up with massa he reached a brick wall and didnt overtake anyone else, just made positions from people going into the pits. If he got passed massa earlier then I think he would of been challenging vettel and Rosberg for 6th.

I think Bando is referring to the lower top speed and limiting when the DRS was enabled on the home straight rather than Hamilton not having the skill. Quite a few times he had Massa in his sights but hit the limiter before he could really make anything other than a rash attempt, the type he has thankfully stopped making. A bit longer gear ratio would've put him even higher (possibly) but McLaren set up for being in the lead and having full use of their gearing without using DRS.

Regarding Massa, I was surprised Ferrari pulled hm in straight away for his stop go, I thought they'd leave him out longer to frustrate Hamilton, I would've if I'd been in charge.
