Best Driver: Maldonado by a whisker from Alonso and Räikkönnen. Worst Driver: Schumacher: not just slow like Massa, but dangerous too. Best Rookie: Grosjean. Best Team: Williams. Worst Team: McLaren. Best Overtake: Hamilton's double overtake on Toro Rossos eclipsed the next best: his early overtake on Senna. Funniest-moment: Räikkönnen on the podium: he didn't want to spill any more Champagne than absolutely required for the spectacle! Most Surprising Result: Will fill this in later. (Update: no, I still cannot remember being surprised) –I Cannot remember being especially surprised by anything at the moment! Least Surprising Result: Schumacher's reckless driving. Special Mention to: Sir Frank Williams: Happy Birthday and what a great present from Venezuela and your team! Race Rating: 7/10 Best Commentator overall: Ben Edwards.
Don't get me wrong, I've been leading it. I'm vicious, but I like to think that I'm fair, and I just think it's fair to point out that he wasn't popular when he was losing. If he does go on to be a consistently good driver - I still don't think he will - but if he does, then he will deserve less criticism when things go wrong as a result of how much he had to put up with when getting to the top.
Best Driver: Maldonado, brilliant first win. Worst Driver: Schumacher Best Rookie: Vergne Best Team: Lotus or Williams Worst Team: Red Bull maybe, poor pace by their standards and the front wing thing was bizarre Best Overtake: Vettel's first on Button Funniest-moment: Most Surprising Result: Pasta! Least Surprising Result: Massa Special Mention to: Alonso, Raikkonen, Kobayashi, Vettel, Hamilton and Hulkenberg all put in strong performances. Race Rating: 9/10 - another cracker in a classic season Best Commentator overall: DC
Who overachieved most in the equipment he was provided with and the hand he was dealt? Kamui Kobayashi, without a shadow of a doubt. Fair play to Maldonado for a job very well done, but he won with the best car that had any hope of winning (i.e. the best car other than Hamilton).
Hamilton was pretty damn good today. Had to make the moves to make progress and did. Maldonado did a good job as well, obviously

Based on the race alone, I gave 'best driver' to Maldonado; but Hamilton was the best driver of the whole meeting.

I'll be honest NNW, I agree with you that Kobayashi did a good job - today was one of the sorts of drives that justifies him being suggested for a top drive - but A) That Sauber is a consistent top 10 car, maybe even slightly better than the Williams in quali trim B) Did anyone honestly expect Maldonado to be anywhere near the front, let alone win? C) Kobayashi never really had to defend his position. Had to be aggressive to stay on the tail of Button, Rosberg et al - and provided some excellent overtakes - but was never threatened. For that reason, even though Kobayashi is probably my favourite driver and today was his best drive since Valencia 2010, I'm plumping for Maldonado because he thoroughly outclassed Senna, and drove that car way beyond its potential, especially defending from Alonso repeatedly and dealing with the pressure which saw him crash out in Australia.
Best Driver: Maldonado, a major step forward, Pastor proved me wrong, what the f**k do I know.
