Some tough competition for this spot! Now I know Steve Bruce maybe popular for this spot but he is no where near our worst manager. Now my dad always hated Alan Brown the manager to lose Sunderland top flight status for the first time ever. Lawrence Macmenemy! The highest paid flop ever. Probably at the time of his signing the fans were ecstatic. "we're on our way back with lawrie mac" etc. Howard Wilkinson. Another one who had a good pedigree. He'd even won the league. I think most of us were horrified by the appointment at the time! Terry Butcher! I vowed never to go back when they made this appointment! In my opinion he was a god awful manager. I'm sure there are more to be added to the list so tell us who you think is the worst and why.
Tough competition ? You're not wrong - but where to start - it's going to be a long list as I can't stick to just one ! Laurie Mackemenemy ! Howard Wilkinson Terry Butcher Just the three that come immediately to mind !
Bruce is in no way our worst manager at all. Mick Buxton Terry Butcher Sgt Wilko & Cotterill Malcolm Crosby Ricky Sbragia All come before him but the biggest ****er of them all and the one who fleeced us of a small fortune but delivered the worst results, was Lawrie McMoneybags. Chief **** number one for me.
I'd totally forgot about mick Buxton maybe that's due to the fact that he had the personality of a carrott.
Has to be Lawrie Mcmenemy. regarding Alan Brown though, He was a real disciplinarian seemingly, Clough played under him, Clough took a lot of what Alan Brown was like into his own management style, MON played under Clough and done the same in his management style, so if it wasnt for Alan Brown, we may not have MON or MON may not be as good as what he has been and hopefully for us, as good as what he will be in the future.
Malcolm Crosby to be fair was never meant to be our manager. It was due to the cup run that he got the job. Had to be given it really although we all knew it would end in tears. It was the same with Ricky. Took his chance really and they you kinda have to appoint them. This is why I'm against care taker managers. Rather a complete fresh start. Wasn't Butcher caretaker manager first as well? Bloody hell I can't even remember what Mick Buxton looked like????
I can't really comment on Brown as I wasn't alive when he was manager. He has to get a mention for relegating us though. It would be interesting to hear the thoughts of anyone who watched Sunderland when he managed. Good points re clough and mon though. It's a small world
Yes he is Bruce is the worst manager ever, the fat geordie bastard. Hadn't got a clue what the **** he was doing lost a derby 5-1 the fat ****er for that he is.
Yes i have heard of perspective losing a derby 5-1 watching in a pub in Peterlee half full of pretend geordies (from horden, peterlee, et cetera who aren't geordies at all just fcking 'rod stewarts') whilst been laughed at by an obese geordie manager was a terrible experience. The fat geordie bastard should have been sacked that night. HAWAY, THE bloke paid for Elmohamady a man who wouldn't get a game for Horden colliery welfare. No disrespect if u do play for horden.
I never come on here to wum. I have many red and white acquaintances on here who are really good craic. But you son, are a f*ckin knacker.
Sombrero, dont beat about the bush mate. Nearly forgot. Browne for me, Along with Lawrie of Gateshead.
Just one thing, I don't "pretend" to be a Geordie. You must live around here, Peterlee/Horden. If you knew who I was, you'd run a mile.
Has to be Bruce, simply because he couldn't or can't accept defeat. ****e manager. Close second Mcmenemy. Has for Sbragia, a bit harsh considering he was dragged in when we were in the ****e siimilar to Connor at Wolves.
