    Fulham fan in peace<hug>

Just interested to know Newcastle fan thoughts on Ashley as we come to the end of his 5th year in charge? From an outsiders perspective its difficult to see if this seasons success was all part of a brilliant plan or just a very happy co-incidence.

His appointment of Pardew at the time seemed to consign the club to another fiasco, particularly considering his last premiership experience had been taking a club down- fast forward a season and a half and the manager has an award and is being linked to the England post.

Ashley could be portrayed in two ways; as the commercially savvy fan/owner who is able to separate business from passion and run a financially viable football club, or as the beer chugging moron who took the club to the point of ruin and then struck lucky.

Ashley has been amazing in terms of putting us on safe foundations. Probably not in my lifetime will we see NUFC in financial trouble again, that's down to him.
Our league position is 90% down to Pardew, our scouts, the coaches and the players. Mike did well to be willing to splash 8million on Cisse when the deal was right, but most of that is down to the former. Overall, I'm happy with him as long as we keep our current set up <ok>

Good owner who has helped turn the clubs fortune around. Never would have expected to say that 12 months ago after Hughton had left us and we had finished 12th throwing away a 3-0 lead against West Brom.

He is a ****, and there was no reason to change the name of the stadium, and he should show more respect to the fans at times.

But, he's fantastic in the financial/Business sense. We could do A LOT worse.

He's not a football man, his PR with the fans is shaky (but improving) but he's a fine businessman. <ok>

Hes certainly a mercurial fellow, he made his mistakes when he came in, some big some small, but the most important thing for the club and indeed life in general is that hes obviously made effort to put these things right, and for that he deserves our thanks and gratitude.

I'm not completely sold on him yet as a person or an owner as you never know how his mood will change one minute to the next, would it surprise anyone HUGELY if we stagnated next season and Pardew was sacked? It probably wouldn't surprise me too much, as I said hes a mercurial man.

Time will tell if he can totally change his ways, but over the course of the last two seasons it would certainly seem that way. I personally would like to hear a little bit more from him, not a lot just the odd update from him and what his views are on things like Pardew, the players, the policies, the fans etc... I cant imagine that happening though, and if I was in his shoes I would probably keep my mouth shut too.

Its nice to finish a season, and look to next season with more positivity than negativity though, which is the basic thing you want when supporting the club you love <ok>

The thing with Ashley is that he walked in to Newcastle/football with his eyes closed. Had he took the due diligence to look over things more thouroughly there is every chance he might not have even bought Newcastle. As fans, we have to be greatful he did, as we were on the same road as Portsmouth and rangers before he came in. It's only now we can see the implications of the previous regime. Being a new owner, he made some massive mistakes along the way, some that will not be forgiven by me or many fans but I do now believe that he had the clubs best interests at heart whereas about 18 month or so ago I was convinced he was trying to ruin us.
Renaming the stadium is the latest cock up. We will only see the benefit of this if another company comes in and sponsors it because as it is now, newcaslte united are being used as a giant bill board for Sports direct and that is all. It could be a master stroke though as any company now coming in to take the naming rights will be looked upon more favourably for taking away that tacky sports shop branding where as had they come in to name the stadium directly replacing St James' Park then they would be despised.

Basically completely cocked up running the club in the early part of his reign and came in looking for a plaything. Deserved just about every bit of abuse he got (bar the silly stuff). Fair play though once he found out how cruel football can be to those with a lack of football knowledge, he has gone hands on and completely turned the club around. We're now very well run.

Has he got lucky along the way? Certainly. But everyone needs that sometimes and he has also made a lot of very good decisions. He deserves his share of the credit.

To be honest I think all most supporters want is 100% effort on the pitch and responsible work in running the club. The success has just been a very nice bonus. We'd have been quite happy in mid table.

There is no doubting the financial improvements that the board have brought, it's all good and positive on that front.

Alan Pardew has done an amazing job this season and has been rightly recognised for it.

Ashley will always be a twat because of all the lies he told regarding Keegan, bringing in Shearer for 8 games and then dropping him <doh>, Joe Kinnear, Dennis Wise & his Director of Football job, sacking Chris Hughton for no good reason and changing the name of the stadium <grr>

It strikes me that our wonderful season on the pitch has papered over a great deal of the hate that is felt towards him, that's just the nature of fans - should we struggle next season, with our extra Europa League fixtures becoming a burden on an already thin-on-quality squad, then I think a great deal of the anger will return as fans make their way to 'Sports Direct Arena' <doh>

Football fans are fickle as ****. We will sell our best players, struggle to live up to this season and Ashley will once again get the anger of the fans.
