You say Hamilton is not "doing well"... "Well" is subjective, so not the applicable for debate where you are going to "rip me to shreds". If we define it then it's a pretense I'm not sure will last long.

If we take your meaning of "well", for example, it is taken to be "up to a standard". Now it's not clear what that standard is, is it his or just a general one? If it is a general one, him being 2nd in the standings suggests you think 1st is the general definition of "doing well", so only Vettel is "doing well". If it is his, that shows aspirations even a Hamilton fan might not have.

Either way, you have constructed a looped discussion that will rely on our respective understandings of the term, and so get nowhere...

Usually, people say the team-mate comparison is the best rule of thumb... In which case he is doing "well".

Originally I listened to Gary Anderson, who said it was a dog and that Red Bull would be comfortably winning everything in Autosport. Then I realised he was a **** and could see the Mclaren had a bit of pace. Is it the best? Well Jenson can only win in the best car according to some, so I assume it can't be the best if he isn't leading the championship... Using your idea of "slower cars" is hilarious though, and another way of exemplifying your failure to comprehend basics. At present, every team has said they are having difficulty working out tyres etc... So saying one team is the certainly the out and out best is a bit of a "look how small my willy is" argument.
