The master is dead, long live the master. Okay, not dead, in-fact not even done just yet, but he's definitely on the ropes & he's trying everything to give himself just one more swing at the other guy. The other guy, Roberto Mancini, a man who has made some pretty darn big mistakes this season, but he's got himself into a great position & can see the line now. He just has to keep his team calm & finish the job against Qpr. But, after seemingly conceding the title to Utd only a matter of weeks ago, how has it all changed? A key moment for me was when he started playing the mind games, something which usually would make Fergie laugh, but not this time. "Even if we win this game, even if we beat them we still cannot win the league". We still cannot win the league.....I get the impression we'll be seeing that clip quite a lot over the coming years. Only the blind would believe the premier league is a totally true and fair playing field. But well played Roberto in unnerving the officials into a retreat from there once blatant business end of the season Utd VIP package, where decisions all seem to go one way. A master stroke by the Italian, we'll see.
I'm not sure his comments had any effect on the officials! But they may have had an effect on united. Who was it who was telling me Mancini's a bad manager a few weeks ago??
I wasn't sure if it was mind games from Mancini when week after week he was saying they couldn't win the league, or if it was a reaction to every pundit in the land saying it was over when Man U were so clear. I hope what really get's repeated was Hansen categorically saying man city had no chance and there was only one winner, there should be a compilation of all the cock-sure predicitons he's made which have come back and hit him squarely in the face. Really hope city do it tomorrow
It was all mind games. At the same time Sam Allardyce was playing the same game with Adkins. The difference was that in the Championship, bloody Reading signed Roberts and came from sodding nowhere. Sorry. It has taken me this long to be pee'd off about not winning the league.
I can't see how anyone could want City to win anything. What a mockery they've made of the game with their oil money.
If any club and fans deserve to win things it's City. Being in the shadow of United for a long, long time. I hope they do it. They've bought good players for extortionate fee's, United have bought mediocre players for extortionate fee's. Fair play to Mancini he's probably going to beat the master.
Mind games schmind games. City got back in the contest when they allowed despicable egotist football genius Carlos Tevez to pee all over the integrity of the manager and the club. Their first title since 1968 will be forever tainted by this act of moral cowardice.
Somehow the premier league has to be evened out as far as title chances go. The Rich clubs always seem to be able to Lord it over the majority somehow that doesn't seem right. Although granted It can be argued that if you can buy the best players then why not....... although that still leaves the other 12/13 teams playing for scraps. In truth I think it was better when at least 60/70% of the teams in the league had a chance of winning it. That of course included Saints although our best was runner up.
Indeed, who people often cite as being the ones who win the PL by bringing in youth from their academy. Has anyone seen the amount they've paid for players, over the years..? They've bought the PL plenty of times.
Exactly. I'd rather City won the title, despite having spent loads of money - and Utd have not been frugal themselves. I'm sick of Utd and their plastic fans, not to mention Ferguson himself. Btw, Utd have taken the lead, City are drawing.
