Their rep took a bit of a hit over Bahrain, plus this is an easy way to get more viewers tomorrow, plus they do like to hit Mclaren where it hurts, especially Lewis. Perfect opportunity.

since when have mclaren been known for telling the truth ? they are not exactly a bunch of mother teresa"s in the truth dept ,
you can trust them if you want i am not that gullible , for me it is happening to often with them to be a coincidence or harmless mistakes anymore -

Fed up of politics and axe grinding in F1... I cannot believe it. 5 places would have been acceptable... but this is ridiculous.

Coincidence that it's an an event in Spain? I'm sure the "fans" there are lapping it up.

Well done Pastor on your first pole though. I'd double check your tyres pressures before the start though. Cos let's face it... An Alonso win in Spain would be sure good for retaining that recently found revenue.

    /cynicism off

Why single out McLaren? I wouldn't trust any of them but I would trust Gary Anderson's judgement that this was a credible explanation for him to broadcast.

I would openly review an experts opinion against what I think. But I still wouldn't trust any driver or team in general if it looked like they cheated.

Support them to bits, but I'll never trust them with my wallet!

Bending the rules happens, it's not exclusive to any one team.

    Edit:
Not suggesting you were saying that. After reading that reply I can see how you may think I was.

Such as? Fuelling transgressions of any sort are usually punished with disqualification.

I don't believe you can achieve complete consistency (except by imposing zero tolerance across the board), whether referees and stewards make decisions in a second or after long hours of deliberation. That doesn't mean aiming to improve consistency should be thrown out of the window, it's just an acceptance that people have different opinions and are prone to error, prejudice and intolerance. I just don't see things as black-and-white as you seem to. I can understand the logic behind excluding Hamilton from qualifying but I wouldn't have gone off the rails if he'd been given a five-place grid penalty. It is what it is and if it's not completely consistent with other offences then it's at least in keeping with fuel irregularities.

I doubt I could come up with one, thinking about it.

Ah. In that case, no - it doesn't mean that.

Why is it okay to win a race (or even finishing) and park to save fuel for scrutiny but not qualifying?

Think he'll pull a Rosa Parks and refuse to go to the back, thereby giving him a comfy win and depriving dear Alonso of his bought and paid for victory... Yahoo

Hamilton should one of these days anyway... I would certainly applaud the lad if he did. The FIA does stand for '****ing Ignorant Arseholes', yeah?

    Well it supports Alonso anyway...
