The game is scheduled to take place at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday the 13th of May 2012 at 3PM. The game isn’t scheduled to be shown on English T.V but streams are normally posted before and during the game. Preview. So, here we are. The final round of games in what has been another exciting season in the Premier League! We’ve had just about everything in this season’s Premier League and with the title race, the battle for a Champions League place and the battle to stay up still to be decided, Sunday’s game between Swansea City & Liverpool might go under the radar a bit. Fans of both Swansea and Liverpool will disagree of course and both sides will be looking to end the season on a high. The home side, Swansea City, have enjoyed an excellent season. Having been promoted to the Premier League via the play-offs last season, many bookmakers and pundits had them down for relegation back down to the Championship. They have been proved wrong as Swansea have looked a secure outfit in this season’s Premier League. The key to Swansea’s good league form has been their home form. At the Liberty Stadium, Swansea have lost just four times and have conceded just 18 times. This has been the springboard for Swansea’s success and Brendan Rogers and his side will be looking to end the season at home on a high. The South Wales side have built up a good mix of defensive stability and attacking flair. This will cause the Liverpool side problems as the back line has been good this season with Ashley Williams and Tottenham loanee Stephen Caulker forming a good partnership at centre-back and players such as Scott Sinclair and Danny Graham making the step up from the nPower Championship and contributing 19 goals to this Swansea side. The key player, for me, is Gylfi Sigurdsson. Brendan Rogers brought in the midfielder from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim and the ex-Reading playmaker has been an astute singing for Brendan Rogers. The Icelandic has seven goals and three assists since January and has prompted other Premier League clubs to look at him. He is a key player in Swansea’s 4-3-3 formation and if the Liverpool side can stop the threat of Sigurdsson, they will be on their way to getting a positive result. The away side, Liverpool, have had a disappointing season in the league. Currently sitting 8th in the league, this has been a frustrating season for the red half of Merseyside. However, they will look to finish the season on a high and hopefully look to finish about local rivals Everton! The defence has been key for Liverpool this season. Only 37 goals have been conceded by Liverpool this season and that is one positive that can be taken out of the season and into this game. With Liverpool having a strong defensive record and Swansea being strong at home, you could expect a tight, low-scoring game. However, as with Swansea, Liverpool have a wide range of attacking talent. The obvious attacking talent currently at Liverpool and in form is Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan has 17 goals in all competitions this season and has been at the forefront of Liverpool’s attacking play this season. With the ability to produce something out of nothing and a rather large bag of tricks, he will be a constant threat to the Swansea backline. His strike partner, Andy Carroll, will also be a threat. The big man has improved in recent weeks with some fans and pundits calling for the striker to be included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for Euro 2012. He has improved considerably in the past few weeks and has produced two excellent performances in the F.A Cup final and league game against Chelsea. If Carroll & Suarez are paired together up-front, it could cause problems. With Carroll holding up the ball and using his strength and Suarez using trickery and his unpredictability, it will mean that the two centre-backs for Swansea (Williams & Caulker) can be expected to be kept busy. The recent of form of Liverpool is also interesting. In the league, it's been a case of one step forward, one step back in recent weeks. For example, the last 4 games have consisted of 2 wins and 2 defaets. Liverpool were beaten by West Brom (1-0 home defeat) but then responded with a 3-0 win at Norwich. Changes were then made for the league game before the cup final and Liverpool lost 1-0 at home to Fulham. They then responded again in the league and beat a under-strength Chelsea 4-1. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues or can Liverpool stop this recent run of winning then losing. A little side note on this game will be the sight of thousands of Swansea fans dressed as Elvis! When Swansea were promoted last season, one bookmaker said that there is more chance of Elvis being found alive than Swansea securing Premier League football. That bookmaker now looks a bit daft and Swansea manager Brendan Rogers has urged the ‘Jack Army’ to dress like Elvis! Injury News. Swansea City. Andrea Orlandi: Calf/Shin Injury. Great writeup as per! I agree it looks like it has low score written all over it. I am going to go with a 1-0 win to the pool.
The board would be a poorer place without them Just don't know how we will perform on any given day so I've given up trying to call the scores. I will however predict that whatever the score is we, will hit the woodwork at least twice I would like to see Shelvey get another run out and see a bit more of Raheem off the bench. Carroll has definitely earned a start so lets hope we can get the front two (if indeed thats what we play) some good service. I've been massively impressed with Swansea in their first season and really like their style of play. Good keeper, a decent defensive unit, Dyer, Allen, Sinclair have all played well in patches in midfield but the most impressive of all has been the loan spell of The Sig who we will have to shackle and stop him roaming around too freely in front of our back 4 (he's got me loads of fantasy points the little beauty ). As per usual if we play to our best then we can definitely take the 3 points but whether or not we will who knows. I'll honestly be glad to see the back of this season and just hope and pray the work done at the club over the next few months will allow us to start producing better league results next year Ps...cant wait to see all the Welsh Elvis impersonators....comedy gold
Hope we win this one and take a bit of confidence into the pre-season. I think we'll edge it 1-2, but would prefer a larger win. I've been very impressed with Swansea and I wish their team and fans all the best for their second premiership season. PS Great work this season, Chris. Your match threads are definitely one of the highlights of the LFC forum and I love the pics from training. Long may it continue.
Yes thanks for all the work you put in this season Chris - I think it will be a high scoring game, can see a 4-3 pool win!
Reina Johnson - Skrtel - Agger -Enrique Kuyt - Hendo - Gerrard - Sterling Carroll - Suarez Save for a few changes due to injuries, I wouldn't mind seeing this starting XI. Kuyt and Sterling whipping in crosses, with Hendo as an attacking mid and Gerrard holding back. We all know Sterling is good at running past people and he can find a player in the box with his crosses so I believe he should be given a chance to start.
I like the look of that team I would move Gerrard on to the right and bring shellvey in to the middle and have a go!
all the very best to swansea. you guys are a real breath of fresh air for the prem. you play great stuff and have a fairy tale story to boot. our lot don't care so will play great and win. typical. carroll, shelvey and henderson to look awesome.
Seconded, he maybe the ugliest **** on this group, and that is why he does this instead of having sex, but I love him, and it is just a pity the lack of cross posting has reduced the impact of these excellent threads.
