tis for the majority of the gay community did you know 1 in 6 of the people who raise the most money for Obama is gay? wonder why he he said what he said?
How do you know it's a non-issue for the majority of the gay community? You are so arrogant and ignorant it's beyond words.
I never stated anything of the sort. I asked the question. Which is a valid question. Does poking my nose in only apply to me personally, or does it extend to everyone else? Including you and Obama?
because actually listen to people like Ben Bradshaw. Who is gay and believes its is NOT a priority Interestingly enough the 'gay marriage rights' debate has more non gays arguing it than gays
I'm saying we are all putting ourselves in different camps - if these gay people have faith in Islam and want their marriage recognised in an Islamic manner then it's a domestic Islamic issue, it's in your camp, sort it between yourselves, I'M OUT. I'm getting married because my missus has dreamt of her Wedding Day since she was a little girl, I get to go through a right of passage in life, I get to have a big **** off party in Malta and have a lot of fun, I get to go on honeymoon in Thailand and have a lot of fun, I get loads of gifts which will help me claw back some of the cost of the fricken thing, I save 120 quid a month in tax with the Isle of Man Married Man's Allowance
Which church? There are those that do celebrate gay unions. The point is that marriage is a sacrament. There are six others.. There was a furore recently over a Catholic priest refusing to allow a girl in Leeds to take her first holy communion. The reason she was refused is that she didn't attend any of the classes to explain to her what taking that sacrament meant. If she had went to the classes then she would have got it. No big deal. To receive the sacrament of marriage (in most instances) you need to attend classes to receive it. To understand what commitment you are making and what the purpose of that commitment is. For most Christian churches a gay couple to not fulfill the criteria to receive that sacrament. Personally, I think there is a very easy compromise.
I know this is going to be controversial but surely if incest and beastiality is illegal, then surely being gay should be illegal. Is it any less un natural to want to have sex with another man, than it is to want to have sex with a family member or animal?
So ONE man represents the views of the majority of gay people? You talk utter rubbish. You even cited earlier (post #75) the people pushing the agenda were "gay groups/organisations...the likes of Peter thatchell (sp)" Surely their views are more indicative of gay people than the likes of Ben Bradshaw as they are representing gay groups? You strike me as someone who has an opinion on everything and very little knowledge about anything. An opinionated jack of all trades and a master of none, as it were.
Well my position and Obama's position is let people do whatever makes them happy - so no I'm not poking my nose in. It was others who brought religion into this conversation when really religion is a complete irrelevance on the subject, to everyone but religious people.
Yet you are able to do this without going to a religious institution. so where is the argument? so the gays SRE being unreasonable? Its NOT about equality?
Then we are not arguing, I'm not defending anyone who believes they can reconcile the likes of Islam with being gay. They should be sensible enough to see that their religion does not accept them for what they are - but again that's a domestic issue between members of a church, and I'll leave them to it. Gay state marriage should be legal though.
This is wrong MIck Obama has changed his position on this issue more than once. Everyone recognises that the reason he is 'for' now is due to 2 reasons 1 - finance, as he was flagging and needed some serious campaign money. 1 in 6 of his backers is gay and some were holding back 2 - Policy wise he has nothing but on this issue he wants to 'call out' Romney, who is anti.
You said gay marriage was not a priority for the gay community. I asked how you knew this and you cited Ben Bradshaw. You have absolutely no idea what the views of the majority of gay people are on the subject. Absolutely no idea whatsoever but you're willing to lie and say the majority don't care. Your arguments are embarrassing and immature.
I've read some of Obama's papers, he obviously has a very high intellect. I'm pretty certain that his own personal views are liberal, to the point where has no issue with gay marriage. His motives for coming out with what is almost certainly his genuine opinion may be cynical, but that's not what we've been arguing about.
as 1 of the people. There are other high profile homosexuals who dont think its a priority either would you care to provide figures that Most do?
I disagree. Obama's papers may or maynot be written by him However he has switched with the tide when he has needed. Look athis views when he was looking to be elected and now.
