Holt would come to offer something different. When the Germans do that (Cacau), we don't say, oh, Cacau's awful, he should have taken Kilnsmann. The Sky Sports generation probably don't know who Cacau is.

I remember Cacau, was expecting him to get a move to a big team. Expect it was only really Khedeira and Ozil.

Bit random, but I was also hoping Japans Honda would get a big move. Bit we all know how players can flop after coming out of the blue in a major tournement. Just look at Arshavin.

Talking of Johnson's, I see that Oli has been released by Oxford. His was a sharp rise and and equally sharp fall I'm afraid. Shame as I don't like to see ex players of ours dopping away.

Agree, I thought he would have done well at Oxford too, he seemed to be handy in League 1 so surprised it hasn't worked out in League 2. Pretty skillful player, with a tidy finish but he just lacked pace and power.

why just take one? who else is going to go in their places? take them both or take graham instead of one of them. the one who definitely shouldn't be going is sturridge!

Don't want Carroll to go to the euros, I would rather Sturridge than Carroll. I've seen more glimpses this year from Sturridge and I think he will more likely come up with a match winning moment.

I think Sturridge should go because he plays for Chelsea so must be good.... Or at least that is what the media would have you believe

i think sturridge has potential but he's not played well now for 6 months. where would he play? he isn't really a striker and he isn't really a winger. at least with carroll he gives an extra dimension for the squad should they need it. with sturridge you wouldn't be able to change tactics as easily. i'd feel far more comfortable seeing carroll come on, thinking he could make an impact on the match, than sturridge. his time will come but he really needs to improve his all-round game an awful lot and thats another reason why holt should go ahead of him too.

The thing with Sturridge is he plays with his head down a lot and is certainly not always a team player. With England needing to compile a team and close knitted squad I don't feel he would pull his weight. It would just be another case of talented individuals with not team ethic

In my eyes they both don't deserve a shot. But if I had to pick one Sturridge. To be fair he can play either wing or up top depends whether you see it as a negative trait or a positive one. Yeah he hasn't been on great form lately but Carroll has had a FEW decent games and hasn't even got into the Liverpool team all season.

I agree he probably would add another style of play but even than I would rather Crouch, Crouch has been in Stoke team all season and has got a few goals. I just dislike Carroll haha.

The strikers I would take to Euros is Rooney, Holt, Graham, Welbeck, Sturridge/Crouch.
