Many might disagree but Richardson or even Colback should be left back

Seems fair enough with regards to the Sunderland and Newcatle players - I don't know much about the Hartlepool lads though.

To be fair, they have to sling in players from League 1, so that is hardly the best north east XI...

Its a bit daft really, i dont understand it, i mean would the best performing players in the lower league clubs get into either the Newcastle or Sunderland squads?
It just seems to be trying to keep all the club's fans happy but if you choose the strongest team based on the players available im sure the lower league players would drop out probably for (and im sorry to say it lol) for more newcastle players as they have been excellent this year. It would have been better just to pick the best 3 or 4 players from each team and write about them.

It's an absolutely stupid idea really. This isn't "North East team of the season". It's "North East team of the season if we HAVE to include some players from outside of Newcastle and Sunderland". It's a bit like having a "English XI of the year which MUST include players from Wolves". None of those players from Boro or League One Hartlepool would get anywhere near either of our sides, so none of it makes any sense.

And then you have the subs. Two Newcastle players, one Sunderland player, one Darlington player and three Middlesbrough players <doh>
