John Meehan ‏ @MeehanMedia BREAKING NEWS: #HullCityCouncil planning committee gives go-ahead to £230m #Siemens & #ABP @greenporthull plans.
They were never going to refuse in a million years. I know people like to think the council is backwards - an accusation oft levied after the Allams shebang - but I think some people might be thuinking differently about that in the last 10 days.
It annoys me when people say "the jobs will go to out of towners". Yes, a large percentage of the best paid ones will initially because local people dont have the expertise but why does that matter? These people will stay in Hull midweek at a hotel / B&B, buy a property to live in midweek or indeed move here. In each instance they will spend their money here either on accomodation, reataurants, bars or property and that will stay in the city. And it gives the kids at school something to aim for to ensure they will be qualified for the best roles available long term.
Great news , this together with the funds made available re upgrade of the A63 Castle Street . Good news is as hard to find as hens teeth at the moment and I hope (being selfish like) that the majority of labour is sourced locally . Wonder if we could wangle some sponsorship off Siemens for City .
Coupled with cash available for exploratory work on the A63/Myton Bridge road then a couple of good bits of news in one week, blimey we could do with some.
Now that would make me very happy! Not that Im ungrateful to our current sponsor, but who wouldnt want Siemen on their shirt? Hahahahahaha!
Siemen on the socks is nothing new for some is it? Hang on. I've got a picture to go with that thought....brb
The actual site in Alexandra dock is on the west of the dock. The crane is on the east, not affected by the developement. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/515420
He was objecting to all the building next to it, not the fact that it was actually going anywhere. http://www.thisishullandeastriding....Dock-factory/story-15232254-detail/story.html
