I was amazed watching the game last night. Whenever Sturridge got the ball torress switched off and just stood there. Even when sturridge was trying to get to the byline and put a ball in the middle...torress stopped. I think Torress is sick of sturridge being selfish and of his lack of being able to actually pass to a fellow player. Awful professionalism from torress but cant blame the lad. His shoulders sunk as soon as sturridge got it everytime! I was shocked what I saw. Anyone else see it?
Must admit I wasn't aware of it but I think Torres just has no clue what Sturridge is going to do (don't think Sturridge does either) and can't 2nd guess it either.
Not a dig but... Is it risky to put all your eggs in the win the CL final basket? If you had beaten pool (not unthinkable as they've been poor at home) and Blackburn You could have made next years CL and gone into the final a little more relaxed. As it is EVERYTHING rides on it. Seems a lot of unnecessary pressure to put yourselves under.
True but we could have played Lampard and Drogba last night, they both could have got injured for the final and we may still not have won, got 4th etc. If it was still in our hands (4th) we'd have played our best team but even had we won last night, we'd probably still have missed out so we took the decision to rest players who'd only played a cup final 3 days ago. Ultimately we've had a hellish schedule of late and have to rotate, especially our older stars who need a rest now and then.
Playing with an injury,he looked like his legs were tied together, but on the other hand if his legs were tied together Carroll & Suarez wolldn't have kept on nutmeging him.
Amazing how we can be so irrelevant to Chelsea but at the same time their fans are so desperate for us to go down. If he really had broken ribs he'd struggle to breathe let alone complete several football matches. There were plenty of players who could have come in and done a job given it was effectively a reserve fixture.
You are right of course, but we have almost run out of defenders with injuries, and those still standing are totally knackered. We have played a huge number of games the last 6 weeks or so, and it is not suprising that we put in a bad one. Just a pity it was such an important game. We also have 4 major (well 3 major and 1 minor ) players suspended for CL final, and simply can't risk injuries. It was a tough call against Liverpool, and it didn't come off, so now we have no choice, all our eggs are in the one basket, but what a basket !!
