A few complexes on here. Trappatoni is arguably the finest coach ever in Serie A. And if the the ROI squad is so useless and boring without Hoolahoops, then how the hell did they manage to qualify?
He must have bribed everyone to be crap so they got through. On a more serious note I think he would add an alternative option for them and they don't have a huge amount of superstar midfielders
its an interesting debate but i can totally understand why ireland, or more importantly, trappatoni, has left him out. he has been extremely successful by playing in a certain style and it is working for ireland too. why would he change it to accomodate hoolahan? its very unfair on the little man cos i think if he's not one of ireland's best 23 players then they should really be winning the damn thing but its totally down to style, or rather, lack of it, and you can't fault the manager for the results he's got. i think they'll get out of what is, a very difficult group, simply cos they are so difficult to beat. i fully expect hodgson to take a similar approach to managing england. it works at international level.

See, this is the one I've got issues with. I wasn't expecting Hoolahan to be in the squad as I mentioned in my original post, but surely he must be a better stand by than someone who spent nine months injured, came back for four months and is now clubless
Hoolahan is probably the player I shout at the most, he keeps the ball too long on occasions, runs into a brick wall then turns round and runs the other way, and worst of all he won't ****ing well shoot when he does get into position! FOR ****S SAKE WES SHOOOOOOOT! Yep everyone that's me hollering at him..............but I love the little guy to pieces, and his partnership with Holty is exceptional. Like all flair players he can be frustrating as hell at times but our team wouldn't be the same without him. When he scored against Arsenal I went loopy, I was so pleased for him! Eire doesn't deserve our WES!!! ILD OTBC
