Well if you believe what you read in the press, then Levy had a new 4 year deal lined up for Harry but has since withdrawn that due to our recent indifferent form. Up until the appointment of Hodgson as England manager, to sack Redknapp would have been bloody poor business on the part of Spurs. Now the England situation is finalised, Levy may well feel he is at a crossroads here - does he stick or twist ??

If he chooses to go with a new manager, he might well be faced with the situation that the new guy will demand a minimum £30m to invest, and more likely £50m to invest. Levy will duck out of that one as sure as night follows day.

My own view is that over the entire 3.5 years of his reign, Harry has accumulated enough "brownie points" to survive this current spell and will be in charge at he start of the new season.

There are rumours he has withdrawn the contract offer - maybe one more year is on the cards to save on compensation? Levy has been awfully quiet for months so who knows whats cooking behind the scenes? Maybe he already has a plan because he thought harry was off anyway? Time will tell....

I think the reason "Levy has ben awfully quiet for months", is due to the fact he spends 90% of his time in Florida recently (family reasons). Not suggesting for one minute he doesn't have his finger on the pulse because he does, but he has been out of the limelight for a few months now.

Do you think that might be concentrating on the new stadium?
 
A lot has been mentioned about Martinez here bit I'm not sure about him. Has he ever managed a big club? If, and its a big if, Harry does go, we would need an experienced man who has managed big clubs. There aren't too many available unless Pep is looking for a job.

I am sure that is taking up a lot of his time. Even though his main base has been Florida recently, I don't doubt he has ever taken his eye off the current first team situation. I merely mentioned it as a possible/probable reason for our chairman being quiet recently.

If Levy's being forced to spend large amounts of time away from the club, then that might push him back towards the old DOF system that he experimented with prior to Redknapp's appointment, SC.
We all know how our manager feels about that.

I can't see Redknapp being shown the door, but he might have to wait for a contract offer and he may face a change of personnel around him, especially if we don't make the top 4.
 
What if Hodgson utterly bombs at the Euros, Ammaar?
I don't think that he will, but the media will be clamoring for Redknapp again before the players have had time to leave the pitch, if it does happen.
Any last day success would only add to that process.
 
I don't put much stock in things that Redknapp says to the press, Ammaar.
I still think that he'd take the job, if he were offered it.
I think the thing with his wife was media speculation too, if I remember correctly.

Our recent return to form coincided with two things.
The England vacancy was filled and we returned to the formation and system that worked so well for us for most of the season.
Which of those has had most relevance? Impossible to say, at the moment.

I can't see Harry being shown the door either PNP. But if we were to enter the new season without a new contract being either signed or offered, then I can see Harry fluttering his eyelids at every managerial vacancy going, which would clearly be unsatisfactory.

As for any change of personnel, that's an interesting one. Many years ago, I was in regular communication with Barry Fry when he was Peterborough manager. Fry always maintained that if a manager wanted to remain in a job for any length of time, he would need to be chaging his number 2 on a regular basis, and indeed Fry did do that. Now I know BF was always full of hot air, but on this occasion, I did feel he made a valid point as he claimed a fresh assistant coach would keep him on his toes, bring in new ideas, bring a new voice for the players to listen to and generally freshen the whole place up.

I think Harry might be wise to look at this, although I doubt he will as sometimes I think he and Bond are joined at the hip.

I've always thought that was one of Ferguson's strengths, SC.
He's gone through quite a few in his time.

As you say though, I can't see Redknapp being open to the idea.
If he's not, then he may end up with someone being installed over his head, instead.

Agreed. No doubt in my mind that he was absolutely gutted not to be offered the job. However, if he were to be offered it, he'd jump all over it like a rabid dog.

Fair enough, but when Harry joined we were in a desperate position and the only way was up. Right now we are on the verge of strongly challenging for CL on a very regular basis and my point was that if Harry were to be replaced we would only be improving if we got in someone who has experience of managing teams in the CL.

We have a good first 11, probably better than all but Citeh's. We DO NOT have a squad anywhere deep enough. In numbers maybe, but ability? Not a chance. Harry would sign as many and as expensive players as he is allowed to, he has proved this at other clubs. He hasn't, so Levy is holding back, both signings and wage levels; Sensible considering we have a new ground to build and it would better if we are solvent when we do. As I have said elsewhere, NO team has been consistent this year and all have given up point leads, (well the ones that matter.)

If Harry is "tactically inept" how did we actually get to third in the first place? Maybe we were "just lucky" to have beaten teams employing a variety of systems against us and played some good football on the way? Surely someone who was inept wouldn't have got us there in the first place? Maybe the 15 other managers who said they would rather watch Spurs than anybody else were tacticaly inept too? What "tactically inept" actually means is that your team has stopped winning and you don't like it. It is a term that I'd expect to see on the Arsenal board, or maybe Chelsea's but not ours.

I never quite get this "tactically inept" accusation either. I can't quite see how a manager who is "tactically inept" could possibly survive well over 1000 league games if he was inept.
