I agree with that - serious competition for places is essential next season.

If we had signed Borini, would we have gone for Graham??? Exactly so shut it with all this, he played in the championship rubbish!............... <laugh>

I can understand the reservations about Moore . He has never set the world alight and I'm not saying he is the answer up front. The last time I saw him start for us was I think the spurs game and he did really well, DG is the top front man and has done great. Problem is that he lacks half a yard and will never get more than about 12 in a season.

If we could share his work load around he may be fresher when needed.

I can compare and I will Jager, I mean valley! because the comparison, demonstrates the type of player we need up front, which clearly is going over your head, but I'm sure all will be revealed before next season!............... <cheers>

Dragon it's all a matter of opinions pal, can't call us less intelligent just because our opinions differ from yours.
On the matter though, just look at Jason Scotland... Banged them in for with with relative ease at championship level, scored 1 goal all season in the prem.
It's Danny Graham's first season with us and his first in the prem, I think hes done fantastic considering. Scored just as many as Fletcher from wolves (who I rate) more than crouch who cost millions, and of all the names above him in the top goal scorers chart, holt is the only player I think who you wouldn't consider top class.

All subjective. How goals would DG have scored for stoke? I reckon about none!

Crouch would have scored the same amount here as DG . Scotland also, even though like Graham he is a slow player for the prem league.

No complaints what we got for our money though, the boy has done fantastic. Credit to him, he looks like a good team player as well

It is a matter of opinion swans-m, but it's not very intelligent to ignore Grahams ponderous lapses in front of goal either, even if he has had a good season, I'm not one for not recognising that, but I'm not going to be deceived by the goal stats either, he's not quick enough to be our only main striker, not sure if he's even the right type of striker for us, but one things for sure, we need another quality striker to challenge Danny boy for his starting position, and Lita and Moore are not good enough for that!................... <cheers>

Ha ha, exactly like Jager, ignoring the obvious point! the point Jager is this, it's the type (in bold again) of player that each represents, and Borini is the type of player we need up front, hell to be honest any strike with some pace, who can pull defenders out of position should do better than Graham!................... <cheers>

danny has had a good season as more a midfield player than a striker. he is a good midfielder too but as a striker then he is poor, he misses the target to much and he has no power in his shots, his finishing throughout the season has not come up to the standard that we need, next season will be tougher but i dont expect danny will be the main striker anyway, he has had his chance and he has shown that the position of lone striker is not his forte but playing with the midfield was.....good player wrong position as he dont have the accuracy or the finishing power to be a top striker in the premiership....

DragonPhill: Why say "shut it" just because I disagree? I'm as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours. Graham has an excellent record at Championship level. Borini did well for us over a much more limited period. Pointless banging on about a player that looks like he's coming nowhere near this Club again.

He's gone. Get over it. And while you're about it try and be more civil. You are sounding more like Dai with every post!.

I agree we need someone to challenge him, but I can't see how you can call his goal stats deceiving. He works hard for the team and for his goals, there's nothing deceiving about it.
I'm curious dragon, given the option this summer would you choose borini or sig?

Good post! Agree with your comments. Joe was very good today. I thought that some of the control and passing was off in the first half and may have due to the occasion.....after all, it was our first league game at Old Trafford for 30 yrs, and it's great to know we'll be there again next year

"Graham is not Borini" is a fair statement, Borini was here, gave us something we desperately lacked and established a standard to be compared agaisnt. And truth is Graham is not Borini-esque. Doesn't have the pace, the inventiveness, the ability to give big defenders the shake, the shot, nor the upside on the longer term. If we are going to challenge in this league a Borini-esque player is going to be the player that will be leading the forward line, not Graham. And this is not to single out Graham, you can go down our roster and there are a number of players that are going to have to drop down to cover as we progress. Hopefully next season I am going to have to eat crow on this, but realistically I think not, he's missed chances that other forwards would force saves on - and by missed I mean missed the goal not just the chance to score.

Graham is fais too ponderous for our team - he simply doesnt play at the same level as his colleagues. Unfortunately Moore is even more ponderous - in mind an in execution - so options have been limited.

Dragon - Borini is precisely the type of player we deserve - with Graham as back-up

The 'Legend' Bob Latchford scored how many for us in our first season in the 1st Division ... not much difference in stats me thinks

Must say, I'm all for this 'Borini signing' stuff again though!
