Daddy Long Legs disappeared halfway down the home straight. I would have preferred to have seen him run in the 2000 Guineas were he was already a course and distance winner.

    Unlucky QM.

Such a shame Coolmore won the 2000....but hey, always nice to see the best horse win the race.

    I'm sure you would agree.

I'd say well done the Prince and Sir Henry for putting British racing first and keeping him to the UK Group 1 races. Leave all that globetrotting nonsense to the boys in blue and ballydoyle.

Horses only go globetrotting when they aren't good enough to win races over here. The list is endless. The really good ones don't.

Frankel absolutely should stay here. There's no reason for him to go anywhere else. Why would they wish to run him on hideous dirt round an American rat track against a load of drugged up horses?! (totally unbiased view of American racing)

Wasn't aware Longchamp or The Curragh had installed dirt tracks or sanctioned the deployment of U.S. equine racing medication.

I wouldn't call a trip across the English Channel or the Irish Sea "globettroting"

I'm think my comments have been misunderstood.

I don't call Ireland or France globetrotting but why on earth would he go to either? What race is there that is better for him than anything he can run in GB?

With the globetrotting I was referring to some people's desire to see him run in the Classic on dirt. I think it is a truly terrible idea. The horse deserves much better and I am certain that the Prince and Sir Henry realise that.

The Irish Champion Stakes and the Prix Moulin are prestige targets off the top of my head.

I have no interest in seeing Frankel run on dirt.

I can't agree with your contention that horses only "globetrot" because they aren't good enough to win here.

    Meisque,Goldikova,Henrythenavigator,Ravens Pass,Dayjur,High Chaparral,Kalanisi,Ridgewood Pearl,Royal Academy,Giants Causeway,Fantastic Light,Daylami etc etc.

I would call these really good ones.

I think Godolphin and Coolmore are to be applauded for racing their horses abroad,Khalid Abdullah as well.

Some people have a more parochial outlook on racing and are entitled to that opinion.

The are prestigious targets but there are equally prestigious targets in GB so why travel? Why run in the Irish Champion when he can run in the Juddmonte? Why run in the Moulin when he can run in the Sussex? Etc.

Of course the globetrotting angle is a generalisation. The Breeders' Cup is the exception but with that seemingly losing its allure it could be a growing trend.

I'd much rather he stayed in GB and battered the likes of Cirrus Des Aigles and maybe Camelot and Black Caviar if we are so lucky.

I take your point Zen but it's always nice to see champions extend their horizons and encompass new challenges.

I suppose it doesn't really matter where he goes...he's pretty much unbeatable to my mind.

Fascinating to see what mark he achieves come Autumn.

I can see both points of view (and I suspect we aren't that far away from each other here). All I want is for him to take on the best to prove that he is the best there has been, so long as that doesn't mean going to America for the Breeders' Cup. The Mile is a rat race lottery and the Classic is on Dirt. There is also the fact that I can go to Ascot to see him bow out in a blaze of glory on Champions Day. <cheers>
