Personal opinions: here we go and dout if anyone will agree Best song: Drive by The Cars( Listen on good headphones, so much music in the background that is not picked up) Best Album: A night at the opera Queen. Best live( that I have seen) Bruce Springsteen any tour but 85 Born in the USA was amazing, Nearly 4 hours of mighty fine music and fun
Okay As StainesR said...how has no one mentioned Billy Bragg. His lyrics and melodies are phenomenal "How can you lie there and think of England. When you don't even know who's in the team" His song New England sang by the sadly departed (or as we put it "unlawfully killed".... killed by a rich kid's powerboat) Kirsty McColl. Is absolutely one of the best songs ever.
Life's a Riot with Spy vs Spy......the milkman of human kindness........great man Staines, Beth and anyone else, certainly up for an Alabama 3 night out if we can find the dates....I think it's pretty good geographically for us as I'm in Leamington Spa, not too far from either of you. Love live music, don't get to it anything like enough.
Peronally this is my buscuit....Apparently I'm in the crowd there somewhere... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL7HHaCbyNo Enjoy !
Should have posted this earlier, but there is a great programme on Genesis on Sky arts at the moment. Unfortunately Steve Hackett has just left the band so it going to go down hill rapidly and become all about Phil Collins.
Wasn't he somekind of QPR-fan in the old days? Do you mean genesis did go downhill like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=epOBenUjIHw Have to say i did like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=TlBIa8z_Mts
You are right, Collins is/was a QPR supporter. I remember reading somewhere, probably in Sounds, that he always wore his QPR shirt on stage and how no one in America would recognise him without it. And yes, that was very much down hill in my opinion. I far prefer the early stuff, The Cinema Show, Firth of Fifth, Musical Box, The Knife, Dancing with the Moonlit Knight and, of course, Supper's Ready. Happy days.
Yes Phil Collins was a QPR fan but became a 'life long' Spurs fan when they got to the FA Cup final one year. Another Kid Jensen eh!
There are some weird and wonderful posts on this thread. No one (or so it seems) is capable of liking anything mainstream . I'm sure that's not true. Anyway, here's a piece of music that I'm sure will resonate with those that frequent HQ. We need plenty of this tomorrow/later with everyone connected to our glorious club....... Just reminded myself how good that track is Dave. Cheers for reminding me. How about this classic - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TjWt-KlqgY&feature=related and this beauty from Ritchie Hawtin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hK8fIuadWa0
This epic music suits perfectly to the film where mackie is running (in slowmotion) to score a last minute winner at etihad..........
Just risen, havin coffee, my mind in a turmoil! today we go to battle my heart and soul are full of serious emotions, will we, won't we, can we? My shirt hangs before my eyes waiting to don my nervous body! the journey will be long or short? but what ever happens Iam QPR!!! COYR's
A while we are waiting anxiously for the sunday to come lets bring this last weeks succesful thread back on. Anybody like this great american rockband. Im going to see (and listen too) them in stockholm june 14th for their first visit in europe for twenty years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=aowSGxim_O8
That would be fantastic igor. I could see it as I read it. A dream come true, there is a chance that something like this could happen. The history is awaiting to be made on Sunday.
Didn't know that Igor, thanks for putting it out there. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I'm booked up for three/four festivals and some other concerts this summer, don't think I can afford a trip to Stockholm on top of that. But they are great live, good solid performers with quite a catalog to choose from. Enjoy!
