First Saturday without a match since our season officially ended and the day after a big "will he won't he sign" over with and for once feeling quite good that we managed to get a target for a change (and one that Warnock has been chasing for a while when at QPR) and now today seems a little deflated.

I guess the next one in will be Diouf which I have mixed feelings about, I am just hoping that Pearce wasn't the money signing and now it is a flood of freebies nobody else wants. I have done my usual scouting around to see who we might realistically be sniffing around and no new news at the moment.

Who will be next to join the mighty whites?

Dioff on a 1 year contract to see what he can do, why not. If anyone can keep him in line its Warnock <ok>

For me, it doesn't matter about the fact we payed money for Pearce - just that he's a young highly rated player. Compare that to the summer with Forsell, Varynen etc.

You seemed to get the idea that SG didn't have a clear idea, who or what type of player he wanted. Warnock seems like he knows.

Pearce seems like a very good signing, and I would except Diouf. Yes, he's got a bad reputation, but he's a quality player, and could be the real replacement for Gradel we've been searching for.

Papers have gone for the inevitable links with more pompey players (ward and norris)

I agree totally, but it does show that you do need to spend some if it is quality that you seek, not always but often.

Links with Varney and Norris. Varney would be decent back-up for McCormack, but if Norris is one of these players who's supposedly better than Clayton I'm extremely worried. Diouf would be a disaster and I would write off our season straight away if he signed.

Can't see Norris signing, he's surely on a lot more than the alleged £9K pw Clayton's asking for. And he's not as good as Clayton either.

I have just been through Youtube looking at Diouf, trying to find some clips of his skills which are plenty but outnumbered by about 5 to 1 of clips which show the side which we all hate. I am having a problem with the thought of accepting him to the club after watching the diving, the spitting and the Warnock sewer rat interview.

David Norris - Can't see him adding much to the team, Varney I would have to question, I think he is better than Paynter and Forssell so as long as each player in is better than those that left I guess it isn't a bad thing. Personally I would like another defender to join along the lines of Bamba.

Maybe we will look north of the border. Should be some right old bargains to be picked up at rangers when ibrox shortly comes tumbling down

He's miles worse than Clayton and is past his peak anyway. I despair if this is the kind of player Colin has in mind for the midfield.
