What we still get to see in continental Europe will not happen again here for so long as the Sky Sponsored Premier League exists in its current guise.

Let us not forgot, as some on this forum may, that that the BSB/Sky was initially, explicitly, designed to price the common man out of the game - so far as live football is concerned - so that live football can be gentrified (in accordance with government edicts) and hooliganism eradicated in LIVE televised football and live football, previously free, could become obscenely profitable, (in accordance with Sky desires).

It is a simple fact that foootballing (and regional) rivalries exist but it is in the government's interest to deny these interests exist; simply because they are counter-intuitive to national politics.

Apologies for the rant but the unjust perception that all British football fans are hooligans, the current gentrification of football, the erosion of grassroots football and the implications of the Bosman ruling are going to destroy top flight football in this country. And because of the perception of UK fan as the poor, can't-be-trusted, relations of European football we are always going to pay more to attend in person, and because we tend to buy more of the gash products advertised at half-time we will always be encouraged to remain at home.
