Well that is my opinion and i hope you dont feel too bad about it. I have always liked rock music ,hard rock ,metal rock ,blues rock ,country rock ,progressive rock and little bit of reggae ,jazz ,blues ,country and 60's and 70's pop music and even some classical music too. Dance and technomusic or even rap have never been my favourites and when i was younger i hate those musicstyles to guts. Now when im older i might casually even watch bit of some shakira or j-lo (do you wonder why...?) video if those happen to be on telly......
I had to give myself a day to think this one over. Had to go for this one, it is brilliant on so many levels. Dire Straits not normally one of the bands I listen most to, but Brothers In Arms has such strong lyrics combined with a beautiful melody. Have to post a live performance as it gives any song a whole different "life" imo. By the way, were any of at this concert at Wembley in 85?
Am far too late to this thread and have deviated from pub to say The old hippy in me loves this But the punk in me revels in this
That is fair enough. I have quite a varied taste myself but have never really liked Rap (although Sugarhill was ok). 90% of what you see on those dance music channels is pretty poor but there is loads of good stuff around that is a little less mainstream. There is some good Dance/Rock crossover stuff like System 7 and some of Primal Screams stuff. Original House/Techno and that whole scene is where my heart lies. I liked Ska and some of the New Romantic stuff when it was about along with Punk. I think popular music used to be better and so much more interesting than it has been for the last few years.
I'll put my own personal fav as well, and it HAS to be with the late great and best, Randy Rhoads. This live performance is from just under two months before Randy's tragic passing.
Ozzy rules! Randy Rhoads was a magnificent axeman and his death was total blow to rock world. Im going to see Ozzy&friends in helsinki 23.5. Shame about that Tony Iommi's cancer because it prevent that original black sabbath show. Hope tony win that battle against cancer. Great guitar player and a rolemodel to millions young rock guitarist.
Best of wishes to Tony and as you say a real shame not to be able to see the original Black Sabbath lineup. I'm going to see the Ozzy & Friends concert in Oslo, 8 days after the Helsinki gig, looking forward to hear your take on it. Saw Ozzy live in 2010 but definitely worth seing again, especially now as he's reunited with Zack Wylde. And when the friends come in the shape of Slash it will be a must see for me. An added bonus will be that the support act are Zack Wylde's own band The Black Label Society. (the song kicks in 6 mins into the clip )

Dire Straits - lets go for "It never rains", or "Tunnel of Love" I'm very happy with Queenslander!!'s "Dock of the Bay" but will still go for anything by the Counting Crows in preference.
Dire Straits means world to me in the early 80's. Sultans of Swing ,Tunnel of Love , Brothers in Arms and Private Investigations for starters. Magic just magic music.
you should check out a band called the civil wars, I saw them live in march. they were amazing. I must confess normally my thing would be the foo fighters ac/dc etc but once you hear this duo you won't regret it.
please log in to view this image Goes without saying Igor. Great find. I'll PM you after the concert.
When we're on to Dire Straits. This performance is pure perfection to me. Absolutely brilliant, a band coming together 100%. Love the drummer in this one. Only thing is Mark Knopfler was sick this night so Jerry Seinfeld had to step in
When you talk about music you cant never forget the old blue eye....Still i hope this song will be sung among the bolton supporters after their sunday match. "Now the end is near....." http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=JhG8rK9BrSU
Very, very few will ever have a voice to match Sinatra, but the overall craft of a Dire Straits song or the thrill of Deep Purple thundering along takes some beating. I'n my opinion Bono runs him as close as any modern day singers, and I would rather listen to "Love is blindness" than "Come Fly with Me".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auDv6cf2PBM "Dazed and Confused" like City when we beat them, stay up, and take their title away.
