Do you think he's wondering what's happened when Newsnight has been dumbed down to the level where Joey Barton is a valid person to invite on to give his expert opinion on the matter in hand.

I should point out as well, it was more the fact Newsnight is discussing sport like it's the One Show than the fact Barton was the selected player to talk about it. It doesn't really come across that way in the OP.

 

In all honesty Barton would be more at home on the Jeremy Kyle show!

 

Barton actually came accross quite well on Newsnight,, imo.

Paxmans intro was funny though. Maybe security was just off camara shot in case Joey did not like the intro.
