A good point , well made. If any fan accepts any player not giving 100% when on the pitch for Liverpool, you need to look at yourselves too. Perhaps that is the difference between the team you were and the team you are now. it was not a nothing game, how can any game be considered so when you are playing for Liverpool. The outcome may have had little impact on the League places ( are Everton finishing above you ) but those players could have earn't places at least on the bench for The FA Cup Final. And careers at Liverpool. Surely you'd bust a lung for that
Awful performance, awful attitude. Reina rested? He's just had a 3 match rest. Suarez rested? He missed 8 games! How can he be tired. And I hope for the sake of my sanity that Jordan Henderson, a man not fit to lace even Salif Diao's boots is sold in the summer, awful footballer. And to be totally honest I dont think Kenny knows what he is doing. Regardless of saturday's result I believe a new manager is essential to any future success.
I understand the reasons behind Kenny's selection - it was sensible. However, I was still expected more from the players out there and they were more than capable of putting on a good show. Those who are still wondering why Maxi and Kuyt don't play as often should look at last night. Maxi goes missing and Kuyt lacks technical ability. And without Suarez, they looked even worse. The young trio of Shelvey, Henderson and Spearing had a shocker in my opinion. Shelvey had some good moments but they were all poor overall. Poor passing, wasteful, no desire, no ideas. Of course, it's unfair to expect them all to play well without some experience alongside them but I was hoping the likes of Maxi and Kuyt would help them out. Carroll tried very hard and won a lot of headers so fair play to him. Possibly my man of the match. Do I think he is the right man to lead the line? No I don't - I feel our number 9 should be able to do more than just head the ball and hold it up. Not saying he isn't useful to the team, I think he can be an important member of the squad but not as our main striker. Despite a few wayward passes, I was impressed with Coates. Defended very well and looks composed at the back. And for a player to have only played 1 minute of PL football all season, Aurelio did not look out of place. Looks so composed on the ball, his touch was excellent. Downing was pretty non-existent as usual. Raheem made more of an impact in his cameo than most players did all match. Won a corner, free kick, attacked at players and put in a couple of very good crosses. Kenny should seriously consider playing him again (Chelsea game maybe a bit too much for the lad, so maybe against Swansea would be a good idea!). Positive of the night - most of these players won't be playing in the final this Saturday!
Kenny himself said his team's attitude and performance was "very poor". Surely he should take responsibility for this? A manager at any other club with a record in the league this year of only one home win and three away wins from 17 matches, would be looking for another job!! The Cup games have gone a long way to appease the expectations of fans and owners, it would seem.
