For me, hands down it's Kyle Walker (and that was even before the goal against Blackburn).

Scotty Parker has been excellent, too - though something seems to have gone slightly amiss since "the slump" began (could have something to do with the kick in the head he took from Balotelli).

I've enjoyed watching the development and improvement in Younes Kaboul's game. He has matured, in accordance with the extra responsibility he's been handed, this season.

Always love watching Benny. For a guy who's not supposedly in love with football ("it's just a job"), he certainly does a good job of disguising his feelings!

What's interesting to me is that for such an attack-minded team, the players I have enjoyed the most this year are, supposedly, defenders.

That's not to say, I haven't cheered along every goal and assist from Bale, Modric, VDV, Lennon, Ade and Defoe. Without wishing one moment of my remaining life away, I just wish the poxy Euros and Olympics would be behind us, so that we can get stuck into the new season, already!!

    COME ON YOU SPURS!!!

Van Der Vaart should get a mention. He is so cultured it almost goes unnoticed. It's easy to forget how surprised and pleased we were when he arrived out of the blue. On top of that his comments to the media have always been positive. A captain without the armband for me.

VDV was a marquee signing in so many ways.

Kaboul is my player of the season, closely followed by Adebayor and then Walker.

    really tough shout this season

    Walker
    Kaboul
    Benny
    Parker
    VDV

all those names could take it.

For me, It's walker. he's become a really good player in a short space of time. Obviously he's won the young player of the year award too. - He deserves it. However, again, scott parker has been superb and an absolute rock in his first season for us.

I'd also like to mention Jake Livermore, who although has had limited opportunity this season, he's been fantastic when called up on. He seems to have a great head on young shoulders and really wants to play for tottenham, always giving his all. You can't ask for more than that. - exciting times ahead for him, I reckon.

i was going to mention him...people seem to forget how much of a coupe this lad was....id say Walker is the most improved since he has shown us things we havent seen from him before...but VDV..i admire him..here is a world class player who is just happy to be playing football and earning a good wage as oppose to being a greedy twat like so many nowadays...he did what we all wanted Bale,Modric and HR to do...he said he loves it here and does not want to leave...that for me deserves my full backing...and he clocks up the most mileage in our games from an attacking perspective and has been the only one who has been busting a gut in our dire last 2 months..he doesnt think think he is better than us....and as you said Spurf..a captain without the armband....because for someone who so many teams would be built around..he just gets on with his job and lets his passion and feet do the talking.

    take a bow Raphael!!!

love him!! and you know me im a moangy twat!

Well as a fully paid up member of the goalkeepers union, I was rather hoping to see a few of you nominating Brad Friedel, but obviously not.....

I think the confidence and calm he instills in the defence has been more significant than his actual performances, if you see what I mean.

Yes I do see what you mean. To be honest, I wasn't putting him up as a prime contender for POTY, merely trying to gauge what the opinions are on Brad's contribution to this season.

There can be no doubting he has given us something which was unfortunately lacking during the later days of Gomes's time, but I do feel Brad has more to do to win over some of the Spurs faithful.

Friedel's a good solid goalkeeper but not top class as he lacks mobility. I still don't think he is actually an improvement on Gomes in the goals against department, just stops different ones, with fewer real howlers.

My thoughts with an FA style approach! :)

I think the improvement in Walker and Livermore is equal imo, as said above, it couldn't be more difficult for one of our young MFers to break in to our 1st team, considering who he has to dislodge to get a game! especially with Harry in charge who as we all know, favours experience, but despite that JL has made him sit up take note (Caulker would slot into the category too). Not quite the case at RB for Kyle!. Both need to work on a couple of areas, but well done to the pair of them so far.

I'd like to pick a forward, but no one has stood out for long enough, one of those seasons. <steam>

Modric has set standards he hasn't quite met this seaon, and if that turns out to be because he wants away, then I'm sure we can think of a different award for that!

The one player who has stuck to his task through thick and thin is Parker. Much has been said he doesn't get forward like he did at Spam...its not his job here. I think if anything he's showed great discilpline to not get caught out up the pitch. Its just aswell really, from what I've seen he's forgot what to do when he gets there anyway! His fitness was questioned last season, but no sign of that this year, and he's had some kickings aswell. Our defence have needed a quality DM in front of them and this season we've seen one. His contribution is pretty much the same every game, what more can you ask.

Special mention for VdV...all explained in Spurf's post.

Notso's Player of the season, Scott Parker. <bubbly>

    <ok>

I think that Adebayor's been largely superb and our team doesn't really work when he's missing, worryingly, but I'd have to go with Kaboul, as well.
He's had to play alongside about fifty different centre-halves and has set a very high standard.

Young Player of the Year's a bit of a stroll for Walker, isn't it? An awful joke, too.

Totally agree with that...but Defoe's our top scorer!, his long dry spells just taking him out of the running for me.

For me the most consistent performer throughout the whole season has to be Kaboul. What a solid performer he has been since coming back to us from his stint with Portsmouth. He has made that centre half position his own for sure. I was only thinking watching the manchester derby last night what a good pairing Kompany and Kaboul would be. We'd certainly be able to handle the aerial threat at Stoke then wouldn't we ;) .
